Had a lovely morning at Hamilton Central Library this week, thank you and big ups to Shelly on Level 3, you were the main reason im awarding a 5 out of 5 today. Not many people about up town however the weather wasnt as friendly nor helpful as my new friend so thank you so much for your time and advice and I look forward to seeing you next week....
This is my favorite library in town, it is the largest in size and collection. Children’s area is also an attractive part of it, with puffs and pillows to sit. Plenty of computers to search and research. There’s a small coffee shop, often closed at the times I visit. Toilets in every floor are clean and well maintained. Worth the time!
I am now a legit Hamiltonian member of the library. People are friendly, helpful and it's a nice place to read about and meet all type of friendly faces.
They have a good selection of books. There is also a section for toddlers and children to play in. Everything is electronic but staff is there to help you. Finding a car park was the hardest in Hamilton. One has to park by the road side and walk in to the library. Staff is friendly. They even helped me get one book which I was not able to find.
Great place to visit but there was some loud banging noises happening while we were inside today which wasn't pleasant.
the library bathroom facilities is seriously unhygenic. i used the 2nd floor bathroom today and it smelled. there is no trashbin available so if women need to change their feminine products, there is not a single option for that. very disappointed.
Helpful staff and good selection of books, DVDs, kits and more. Upstairs they have a heritage discovery resource. There are computers available for public use, plus new 'creative spaces' that are available to the public to use. Lots of free events and activities here too for kids, teens and adults from computer help to story reading to learning new languages - details are on their website or by subscribing to their newsletter.
the strangest experience i have had in a library. i bought a coffee from the kiosk on the ground floor, went up to the 3rd floor where i started writing. had been there for 15 minutes or so when an elderly gentleman came up and told me i couldn't be there. then he said you can't have coffee here, only 1st and 2nd floor. ok, no one told me, he took my cup away - i said ' are you finished now?' he said ' what did you say? ' i repeated what i had said. 2 minutes later a security guy walked up behind me, i have to say as a 55 year old citizen of this country i felt a little intimidated by this behaviour, it was uncalled for. why sell coffee, if you're not allowed to drink it here - i was hurting no-one. in hindsight i think i was being profiled because i have longish hair and was wearing a leather jacket. to think that there is even prejudice on the PUBLIC library. 2 words, absolutely absurd.
I needed to view archives within a tight time frame and I was unsure what access I would be allowed as a non-resident, but the Heritage team were wonderfully accommodating. Thank you for your good work : cheerful, timely and not overbearing.
First time visiting Hamilton Central Library this morning, very large public space with multi levels and wheel chair access. Plenty available here.. toilets, wifi, coffee kiosk, noticed a staff member showing a child how to interact with a vr game while I was on my out.
