It's a hostel not a hotel. The rooms were clean and the beds were good. Our room has two small beds. Smaller than a regular twin? The beds are European style, very close together.nStaff was very friendly and helpful. Shower has shampoo, conditioner and soap.n2 block walk to downtown.nThere is an outside area with tables and a laundry area.nOverall a fine stay.
Location couldn’t be much better. Stunning outdoor terrace with spectacular views. Friendly staff and easy check in and out. Stayed here twice it was that good.huge kitchen and lounge area also lots of eateries nearby. Highly recommend this place!
For me, Haka House Wanaka is undoubtedly the best hostel you can find in NZ.nnThe shared cabins are far more homey, cosy, and peaceful than any other hostels I've stayed at. The beds are comfy and come with curtains, offering great privacy and blocking out the undesired lights at night. The rooms, showers, and kitchen are cleaned daily, which I really appreciated. I also loved being able to dry my clothes on the outdoor clothesline. The lovely views of mountains and Lake Wanaka from the outside deck made morning coffee even more enjoyable.nnThe kitchen is spacious and well-equipped, with supplies including a French press and a freezer that actually works! Trust me, I’ve stayed at a hostel where said freezer was nonexistant and let’s just say my ice cream didn’t survive. So yes, I was very grateful for this one.nnWhat truly made the experience unforgettable, though, was the staff. Everyone was incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful. Shout out Amy for the yoga classes! Spending Christmas and New Years here genuinely made me feel at home.nnThanks Haka!
Just booked out after a 2 night stay in one of the 2 bedroom cabins in the rear of property.nPerfect location.nFriendly staff.nLow score due to very poor hot water in cabin and most of the burners on the cooking hobs wouldn't start. When they fix these issues this place will be perfect.
We stayed in a family en-suite and loved everything about the Haka house! Luke at the front desk was so friendly and helpful. Great location with a beautiful view. Clean, accessible, and quiet. Spacious family room with really comfortable beds, sitting space, mini fridge, and private bathroom. We got our clothes washed, lunches made, and off we went!
