This was perfect for our stay in Wanaka, although I did not know that could not park in front of the hotel with our car unless you paid for it. This was not super clear while booking, because I filtered on car parking available.nnNevertheless it was easy to park on the adjoining street. The stay was great, the private room with lake view was beautiful. The room was small, but modern.nnThe common facilities were useful.
We stayed in a Standard Family Room, which included a double bed and two bunk beds. The room was warm and clean, and all essentials were provided. The shared kitchen and bathroom facilities were also well-maintained, true to the Haka House standards we experienced elsewhere.nnThe location is a standout—right across Lake Wanaka and close to the town centre. However, our room was located in a separate building from the main complex, which meant a bit of a walk to access the kitchen, especially inconvenient during cold evenings.nnParking was a bit tight, but there was ample street parking nearby. Overall, a great stay with a few minor caveats.
Really loved this place, the lounge is amazing and the location is perfect. Lakeside views!nnA few notes for improvement in case management reads this: a few small things would improve the experience a lot! Somewhere to put your toiletries bag in the bathroom, a shelf in the shower to put your shampoo, dust the bedside shelves, and make some paths in the gravel so that guests can wheel their suitcases to their rooms.
Stayed in a King Ensuite Room with lake view and it was lovely. Very cosy in the winter, well kept, and had everything we needed. Super close to the town centre while still being quiet enough for a great night's sleep. Many thanks to Audrey and her team for their kind service!
We changed our plans just to stay another night. Dorm rooms are clean, tidy, warm, and well furnished, with their own private bathroom and kitchenette. Shared facilities are modern, spacious, and comfortable. Staff are friendly and helpful. Whether you are just passing through or wanting a Basecamp for your South Island adventures, I highly recommend checking out Haka House.
