GVI is a Family Owned and Operated business that has been selling quality vehicles for over 25 Years. We were one of the pioneering dealers to import quality vehicles from Japan and pride ourselves on providing a quality vehicle at a fair price with the best possible service and backup!

As Direct Importers, we travel to Japan and select Quality used cars every week and choose only the best buys for New Zealand. Then cutting out the middle-man, sell at wholesale prices, direct to "You" the public, from our under cover Penrose Super Site just of the Southern Motorway and 2 minutes walk from the Penrose Train Station

We also have a Team of experienced buyers travelling around New Zealand purchasing hand picked quality New Zealand New and Second Time Around Used Japanese Imports to ensure we have one of the best selections of Used Vehicles in New Zealand.

We feel confident we can satisfy nearly any order and if for some reason we don't have a vehicle that meets your requirements we will have our team of buyers source something either direct from Japan or from within our local market. Our quality graded vehicles are complied and safety inspected with AA Pre Purchase Appraisals and they all come with AA Certified Odometer Readings and Motor Plus Mechanical Warranty back up is available at time of purchase.

GVI car dealers is by far one of the best car dealers we've dealt with - Service was over and above from Jacki. From Start to Finish the team were very professional and the best part that needs to be recognized as a team is your sales team did not hackle us one by one. We dealt with Jacki and only Jacki through the entire process. Communication throughout the whole process was very professional and we feel Jacki went over and above to get the sale from us with no pressure on us at all. So yet again you have another happy customer that will not hesitate to recommend your team to friends and family in the future . Jackie and Danny went above and beyond to provide a friendly and non pushy sale. Even with the challenges of lockdown they made trading in and purchasing an easy process.  I had seen a few reviews about issues getting a test drive, I just wanted to say in my experience this was not the case I had the car for a good 45minutes.  Thanks again, and would highly recommend

My partner was interested in one of their cars and was extremely excited to buy it, but when he went to view the car the salesperson was extremely rude and was not allowing my partner to take the car for a test drive which he said was due to the fact that he doesn't want the car to get trashed. This does not make any sense? We went to a very upmarket dealership the other day and asked to test drive a car which is worth a lot more than the one at gvi we were looking at and those salesmen didn't even hesitate to give us the keys for the test drive. It is standard procedure when you buy a car to take it for a test drive first, so that you know for sure that there is nothing wrong with it. They wanted him to buy the car first and then take it for a test drive. No sense in that because then you'll be driving it in any way because its yours? My partner tried to negotiate the price as there was a couple of dents in the car and similar later model cars were going for cheaper, but the salesman wouldn't budge and said that if they were to change the price they would not disclose  it to me until  after signing the paperwork. Which again makes no sense. It's an absolute joke of a place with no sense of sales or customer care. I'd happily go spend my money elsewhere.

Had a great experience, viewing, test driving and buying a new e power note with Darren at penrose. That week I went to their service centre and experienced the same top service with Eugene that helped instantly! Thank you. Can’t recommend enough!

One of the worst car dealerships I have been too. Went to see a gt86 but Paul the senior sales “specialist “ did not even let me test drive it to see if I liked the vehicle. He was putting a lot on pressure and was super stand off ish. Extremely rude, don’t waste your time there heaps better dealerships out there who will let you go on a test drive to see if it’s the vehicle you are after.   :

Not a fair experience... It was almost 5 years ago now when my joint home owner and then my closest friend needed a car. She is a Community Carer and worked as a Mobile Personal Carer to seniors. As you can imagine she clocked in many kms a day back and forth. It was a choice between a Toyota Prius and the Honda Insight. She loved the comfortable Honda and the dealer assured us it could handle the kms. She settled on the Honda Insight and it chewed through the oil in a short time. She rang GVI and they said it was normal for this vehicle. Our mechanic said she bought a lemon and even though we rang GVI to tell them the vehicle had major issues they took no responsibility for their part in the deal or any assistance to rectify the unfair deal. At one stage they even said she had clocked up way too many kms and this was why the vehicle had deteriorated. We were constantly in and out of the mechanic shop and over the 2 years we had the vehicle it cost her over 20k in mechanical bills. She ended up selling it to Turners to cover what she owed on the finance. We were both disgusted with the low customer value and will NEVER purchase from GVI Penrose again. Even though it was not myself that purchased the vehicle I was there every step of the way and am devastated at the clout that some of these dealers dish out. Never again. Famy business they say, wow, I'm afraid money comes first there and family a sad last.

The team here are awesome. I live in Tauranga and these guys made is SUPER easy for me to get my car, I explained my situation involving an insurance payout from a totalled car to Honi the account manager and within 24hrs he had sorted finance appropriate to my situation with no pressure to commit whatsoever. In the mean time he had Darren call and talk through everything car related with me. All contact was made initially on Thursday, by the following Tuesday Darren sorted the car, the the head unit upgraded to an Apple Music head unit per request and car was delivered to a local agent. 3.5 business days and they guys had me in my new car! From AKL to TGA nonetheless!!Premium sales team, definitely recommended especially if you live out of AKL and don’t know about buying from an AKL agent. Thanks heaps team

I am quite impressed with the way they do business in this place and how organized they are. We have met Paul at GVI about 2 weeks ago to see a car we wanted to buy and before going straight to business we had a very nice talk about things not related to the car.  We ended up not buying the car as I wanted to sell mine first.  After that, Paul followed up on how was our search and as soon as the car we were interested in was sold by GVI to someone else, an email was sent by them with similar options to us.  Besides that, the way they present the cars in their website makes them very attractive. Very different than many places where the cars are always dirty and not presentable.  Well done guys!
