Story

The Gurudwara Sri Guru Harkrishan Sahib (Sikh Temple) is aimed to encourage youth of today to participate and enhance their knowledge on Sikhism. It is located in West Auckland for convenience of the community. It aims to provide free services. Anyone of any age is welcomed to participate in the activities of the Sikh Temple. Gurudwara Guru Harkrishan Sahib Ji, New Lynn has found a convenient and bigger location, close to Lynn mall, bus and railway station in New Lynn, Auckland. The building is approximately 725 SqM with plenty of car parks. The new building will have spacious Darbar hall, library/admin, big kitchen and langar hall to accommodate large number of people. Free Punjabi classes for children and free ESOL classes for elderly will continue as it is. In addition to this, we will be introducing more programs for ladies, young children which will be announced from time to time. Considering the needs of aged and disabled all the facilities will be on ground level. This initiative would not have been possible without Sat Guru’s kirpa, the blessing of Saad Sangat and the continuous support received from the managing committee. It is only 4 years back when the present Guru Ghar had a humble start being the first initiative taken ever for the Sangat living in Central/West Auckland.
