Wowee! Second time here now. Our new favourite cafe! 5 for sure! Everything fabulous, from the stunning historic building to the beautiful gardens, great service, utterly delicious food, numerous places to sit and relax both indoors and out, great bathroom facilities and plenty of free parking. We loved our food and coffees and were truly able to sit back and relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Also love the fact that the back garden leads to the walkway along the edge of the river around to the Matakana village. We will definitely be back and we HIGHLY recommend
A lovely place with great food options and warm-hearted service. I would say this is one of the best bakeries in NZ so far. Besides a wide variety of European baked goods for every taste, they also have an amazing selection of coffee, matcha, and more. On top of that, the team is simply gorgeous and very friendly, even when they are extremely busy on weekends. When you are in mantekana it's definitely a must go.
Absolutely loved the paczki filled donut, but would not recommend the passion fruit matcha. The polish hotdog was too tough and salty for a hotdog roll, and the almond croissant filling was dry and crumbly. The open polish mushroom sandwich was interesting with a coarse mushroom pate topping, melted cheese and a squirt of tomato sauce- almost like a pizza slice. Wish we had a chance to go back and try some of their specialty ciabatta.
Cute cafe. The Polish pastries were good. Coffee was OK. Decor simple and uncluttered. Owners, unfortunately, bit too busy to chat. I've been looking forward to meeting them for months.
Great customer service. The food is delicious but their home made bread is to die for. We will definitely go back.
