We went to the Goldfield Mining Centre at the end of February and had an amazing time throughout the day. There’s a nice short hike to explore the gold mining history in Cromwell and the tour was absolutely fantastic, fun and informative. I was lucky enough to find a small piece of gold during the panning session and I was able to take it home! Both the lady receptionist with the dark hair and Alison our tour guide were super welcoming, kind and knowledgeable as well. I highly recommend coming here! The drive from Queenstown is well worth the views too.

I must admit I was not sure what to expect, when I crossed the bridge but enjoyed it so much. The staff were friendly, and super helpful. I learnt so much about the history of the Golf fields, about Gold in general, and loved the lesson and experience of panning for Gold.
Wonderful experience. We did the long track self guided walk, so much history, beautiful views of the Kawerau River and hills, all the old workings etc, well worth the walk, but a good level of fitness necessary. We had lunch there, beautiful fresh food, plenty of area inside the Cafe and outside, we'll decked out. The gold panning and history guided tour is excellent too. Jenny was so helpful, and all staff were very nice. Thanks for a great day.
We had a go at gold panning, visited the historic mining sites and huts and really enjoyed our visit and the friendly helpful staff. You can also get a coffee and lunch on site. We loved visiting goldfields. Our tour guide Christopher was excellent, he is so knowledgeable and explained everything really well. We learnt a lot and had lots of fun, panning at the end was a highlight.Visited onWeekend
