IG: 2Fish1ChipnnOrder: Fish & Chips, Corn fritter and a sausage.nCost: $23.26nnLooking for good things from every venue I order from, and this round was disappointing.nnThe fish batter was soft and had no crunch giving it that rubbery texture. While the fillet itself was okay, the lack of a “Golden” crunch laid the foundation of a disappointing experience.nnAs humble and simple as the chip maybe, it’s still requires attention. The chips were off and can only be described as fry.nnThe corn fritter was the meals only saving grace with its fine mash and corn content. The outside cooked as it should providing that thin crunch and opening it to a well herbed and season centre.nnThe size of the fish, fritter was of a good size as was the portion of chips. Despite the lighter colour of the sausage, it was cooked well and tasted nice.nnNot the worst I’ve had, but also not the best. Below average is where I would rank the goods from Golden Palace.
Not worth...Ordered pork burger got an egg omlett with couple pieces of pork and some vegetables. Def not what you call a burger at all. The only burger bit was the bun. Nothing special about bear battered fries, very stale and soft, no crunch to it. Sweet and sour chicken - no comment, not what you would expect. For $50 very disappointing.
The wait was long, but man their fish n chips are amazing. Even Kumara fritters. Love it
I was sceptical based on the good reviews being months back, but I'm glad I decided to give them a try.nI ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken, and it's easily one of the best I've ever had. There were no grisly bits, plenty of food for value and the sauce was just the right level of tanginess!
Came to Eastbourne to have a beach day with friends and end with fish and chips.nFor $43 we got 3 fish, 1 hamburger, 2 scoops chips & 1 deep fried mussel.nInitially asked for a genuine Paua fritter which they didn’t have so I asked for a mussel fritter $6.80. I paid for a mussel fritter and received 1 battered mussel.nI called back and advised off this to which the girl on the phone was studdering saying I didn’t order a mussel fritter and was just saying uhhh uhhh on the phones. I was not alone when making this order so I know what I ordered. The girl working didn’t even help, care to apologise or take accountability. The chips were $11 for 2 scoops and tasted rubbery.nThe fish were $5.60 and really thin an dry however, the batter wasn’t to bad. Overall would never come back or recommend.
