This place serves one of the best charcoal chicken in Wellington. We would often make the drive up from Lower Hutt to satisfy our cravings and have never been disappointed. Very generous servings and the chicken is always hot and juicy and never dry. The gravy is also a must to complement your sides. We thought of giving their fish a go but found it slightly overcooked as the batter was dry and overly crunchy. The fish within the batter was fresh though so would have been perfect if the cooking was on point. Lots of parking onsite and have always had great service from the staff. Looking forward to our next visit.
My favorite takeaway when I am passing through Upper Hutt on my way home. The quality and large portion size has remained excellent for over a decade. Great to find a takeaway the does meat n veggies
Delicious Chicken and chips, the coleslaws delicious and one of the best I’ve had. I left feeling full and fully satisfied - the chicken was moist and succulent!! I kinda love that they have the original decor - a place like this where the food is so good doesn’t need to worry about much other than that they keep up good quality delicious food and Gerry’s ticked all the boxes just as I remembered all those years back. If you’re a Chicken fan I highly recommend checking Gerry’s Out!!
Very disappointed at how dry and stalenthe 1/4 chicken was today.. I've been here many times before and it's been ok but today was terrible. God only knows how long this chicken piece was sitting in the warmer before they served it to me. I couldnt eat it so just ate the chips. I was going to return it it for a fresher piece but there were other people in the shop so i refrained., saving them the embarrassment. I'm not sure if I will go back.
Still great value chicken meals and good service. Been coming here since it opened as Homestead Chicken hasn't changed much since!
