Friends of Pourewa is an umbrella group formed to help protect and enhance the ecological value of the bush in the Pourewa Valley.
In November 2005 a community group was formed comprising of organisations and individuals many of whom had worked for years restoring various areas of bush in the Valley. As a result in June 2016 the group was formally Incorporated as a Society- "Friends of Pourewa". The Friends are working towards protecting, enhancing, and continuing to restore the ecological health of the Pourewa Valley and promote its sustainable use and management. It aims to promote and encourage community involvement in, and appreciation for the Pourewa Valley as an extraordinarily valuable piece of urban forest nestled within our city.
