Story

New fully renovated country-style cafe situated in the garden environment of Takanini King's Plant Barn and nursery. Our menu features fresh, delicious food for the whole family, including a special children's menu and activities.

We take great pride in our coffee beans which are our own blend and are roasted onsite in our exclusively imported air roaster. The only one currently operating in Australasia. Speak to Donald our head barista and he may even roast you up a batch to take home for yourself.

The cafe features three separate indoor areas, including our Tack Room. Perfect for your business meeting or family get together. And don’t forget our huge covered outdoor area where colourful gardens and a wild pond keep the atmosphere pleasantly relaxed. Perfect for those warm sunny days or keeping it fresh but dry when it’s raining.

There’s plenty to do at ‘Friend of the Farmer’ whether with a group or chilling by yourself. Enjoy a coffee coffee and one of the books off our huge bookshelf that would do Hogwarts proud! There's colouring-in with crayons for the kids or a game of petanque for the whole family. And don't forget the farmyard animals for the kids to check out. Chickens, rabbits and the two cutest kunekune piglets!
