Our Franz Josef Glacier heli-hike was hands down THE highlight of our time in New Zealand and that’s entirely thanks to the amazing team. Our guide Jule was outstanding: incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and attentive, while also making the whole experience feel highly personal and fun. She took the time to make sure everyone felt safe and comfortable, shared fascinating insights about the glacier, and clearly has a real passion for what she does — it made a huge difference.nnA massive shout out as well to Andy, our heli pilot, who was equally fantastic. We had an amazing time with A Healthy Height of Friends – Franz Josef Glacier Guides. Our guides, Sara and Rosa, were so lovely — friendly, encouraging, and made everyone feel safe while still keeping things fun and adventurous.nnThey guided us as we rappelled down a steep section and took us to explore new ice caves, which was such a unique and unforgettable experience. Everything felt well organised and relaxed, and the guides’ passion really came through.nnHighly recommend this tour if you’re looking for an incredible glacier adventure with an awesome team!
Our guide, Guri, was excellent. We had fabulous weather and the views were absolutely breathtaking. Guri shared interesting information, answered questions, and regularly checked in to make sure everyone felt safe and comfortable.nnThe heli flight added something really special, with incredible views and a spectacular glacier landing. Walking through the ice caves and vivid blue glacier formations is something we’ll never forget. Knowing there are only three glaciers of this type in the world makes it an absolute must-do. Highly recommend Franz Josef Glacier Guides.
We did the glacier tour today, we had our hike cut very short due to changing weather conditions.nnI thought they handled it very well, we were warned at check-in, our guide kept us up to date as we proceeded through the process. In our case we made it to the glacier and mostly waited around but did a short little loop and went through an ice hole.nnOur guide, Thomas, was excellent. Knowledgeable, safe, enthusiastic, and kept us up to date. He even gave us some plant facts at the end of the tour as we walked back through the rainforest which was a great touch. The reception desk processed a generous partial refund for us quickly. All the equipment and facilities were of a very high standard. Pilot was great.nnIt was obviously disappointing we didn’t get to do the hike, but appreciate its weather dependent and they make calls based on safety and it was handled the best they could have done. I’d definitely recommend this operator to friends or go with them again.
