Forest and Bird Lodge

This is an amazing lodge to stay at when visiting the National Park. It rivals even the ski lodges in Iwikau Village. We stayed in winter when we had a reasonably good snowfall at the time, and you don't have to drive far to get lots of snow full ground coverage of quite deep. The heating is good and the social spaces are really amazing, I especially like the library where you can play board games or explore the park with the maps. Rooms are good too, the dorm room upstairs has a sofa and a table in it.

Great facilities in a fantastic natural environment. Lots of nature walks nearby. Lodge can accommodate 40 or so guests. We booked the whole place for the weekend but you can also book a single bed or a single dorm room. Large communal kitchen, lounge area and comfy meeting room

The lodge is a perfect getaway from civilization but still not too far away that you don't have access to restaurant or bar. The amenities are nice and patrons accomodating. The avaliblity of 14 bed bunk room and 4 bed bunk bed rooms is good for both large and small groups. The ski slopes are nearby so great place to stay for skiiing. Overall a nice lodge.

Nice big space for plenty of people to stay. Good sized kitchen, lovely up stairs rooms. Good heating. Handy to whakapapa village
