Flame had a gorgeous ambience with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, elevated by the lighting and decor.nnUnfortunately the warm welcome was not extended to us from the front of house staff. They were curt, dismissive and unaccomodating. We understand things can get busy and hectic, but clear communication and understanding is always appreciated. Our experience with our waiter and bar staff had improved our perspective on the service we received at flame.nnWe got the platter for two and upgraded to a 350g rib eye. While the platter is on the pricier side, it is definitely worth it in value as it was easily enough food for 4 people. The steak was beautifully cooked and tender. The mash, and mushroom sauce were also highlights. The ribs on the other hand were found to be quite tough, however the sauce it was coated in was beautiful. Additionally we found the chicken breast to be rather dry, the legs however were moist and well cooked.nnFor drinks we only tried the salted caramel espresso martini but it was beautifully made, well balanced but not too sweet at all. All the flavors work well together.nnOverall, if you are hoping for a good meal in a beautiful location and are not too bothered by service, flame would be a great way to spend a meal.
This restaurant is a must visit when coming to Queenstown!! You definitely need to book ahead to get in as it is always extremely busy. We loved it so much on our holiday we ended up going twice. The food is extremely delicious and very fresh. The service is amazing and friendly as well. If you can sit near the window overlooking the lake with the windows open, this really enhanced our second visit. Being from Australia, we don’t ever need to tip staff. However on our 1st visit the young waitress, I think her name was M Carys, the name on the receipt, was so good we actually added a tip. The fries have a really delicious salt that should be for sale. The red wine jus is also very moorish. Over all if this restaurant was in Adelaide Australia, we would frequently visit. Well Done
Absolutely incredible food!nThe ribs were fall off the bone tender, the flavours were bold and perfectly balanced, and every dish we ordered was delicious. Easily one of the best meals I’ve had in Queenstown. Great energy, great portions, and totally worth the hype. Highly recommended!
The food here is amazing — rib lamb, steak, and prawns were all cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Highly recommend for the meal itself.nnHowever, the seating experience was very frustrating. We arrived without a reservation and were seated at the bar. Even after sitting for over an hour, we were repeatedly told the downstairs tables were “fully booked,” despite many being empty. They never allowed us to move, clearly using “fully booked” as an excuse.nnSo while the food is fantastic, the seating policy is rigid and uncomfortable. If you’re hoping for a normal table without a reservation, be aware that you may be stuck at the bar the entire time.nnAttitude matters.nThanks for your reply. Just to clarify — it was after 9pm, there were plenty of empty tables downstairs, but we weren’t allowed to move. Multiple requests to change seats were refused, using the “fully booked” excuse. It felt intentional and made the experience uncomfortable, despite the amazing food.
nThis place was absolutely amazing! The beer was great, and the mojito was incredible - I felt like I was right back in the Caribbean. The ribs were delicious, but the steak was pure perfection. I’ve lived in the Northeast for a few years, and I can honestly say this was one of the top three calamari dishes I’ve ever had. Definitely come check this place out, you won’t be disappointed!
