Had a great day here. I was lucky that Martin James had the time to tell us stories about the place and shows my partner and I around, including the pianola, an old device to show 3D pictures, old appliances, etc.nTry to get early enough to have time to see it all, including the old airplanes in the hangars/warehouses. And if you can get the scones with tea in the old theatre with the company of Jimmy the cat. So yummy!nThe place is run by volunteers which have done a great job.
Much much more than we expected. This is a truly amazing place . The buildings and exhibits are totally authentic and fascinating, the people are really friendly and very knowledgeable. There is so much to see , we were there for 4 + hours and didn't see it all, even the kids were happy and interested the entire time. The one thing that would have made it 100% perfect would be having food available, I suggest either taking a picnic or eating before you go.Ferrymead is a great destination for a day out, loved it.
Excellent! Great collection where you easily can spend a few hours! On weekends, there are sometimes special train rides which was great as well. They even have gluten and dairy free ice at the entrance. Recommended!
Good attraction with Train, little village in the park, Museum and Fire truck showroom. Worth with $5 admission fees and don't forget to go there on every month first Saturday. Except some months.
We went for the have a go day as it was cheaper entry and was good to go on the tram. Was a bit quiet, thought it would be busier with the lower price.. There is a lot of things to see but the kids did kind of get a bit bored. I liked the garden and picnic area the most. The printer shop was our highlight. The lady there was really friendly and our son got to make a little notebook and his name on cardboard. I feel like it needs a good jazzing up to make it a more memorable attraction for families. Was a bit annoying that we had to pay extra if we wanted to see the fire museum, I feel like that should be included in the entry. Still if you haven't been, I would recommend going to have a look at some of the historical items.
