I've been to the museum several times over the years and it continues to evolve and add exhibits. Mind you I do miss the Canberra bomber that used to be a major attraction. The staff are helpful and entry is free. The aircraft on display are very interesting and have history with NZ including the Skyhawk, Spitfire, Mustang and DC3. Apart from the planes there are hundreds of other exhibits and a small gift shop.
It is a must-visit for anyone curious about aviation or history. You can freely explore the area, and the displays are informative and impressive. Educational, engaging, and inspiring — a true gem! Totally FREE!
It is $15NZD for entry for international guests & $5 for the tour. I still highly recommend for aerospace enthusiasts as they have many cool planes on display.nTake the tour if you do come it is worth the $5 as they show you extra displays not available with your regular entry.nReally cool place to visit and their restoration work is incredible.
Free entry, lots of parking, staff were friendly and helpful, quick snack at the cafe before we started was nice.nYou dont even need to be an aviation enthusiasts to come have a look here and youll easily spend a good hour or more looking around.nPaid guided tour on offer but managed fine getting around on our own with the supplied map.nWas hoping to see the Hercules on display but no.nGift shop on the way out was worth a look.nTake a jacket because i froze my butt off looking at the planes lol
Highly recommended for everyone in the family.nnA beautiful free donations are welcome museum, filled with far more aircrafts than we initially expected.nnLots to read and discover, displays were well put together and the pacing through the exhibits is perfect. If you need a break, there is a simple cafe, a lovely little gift shop and peaceful grounds.nnWish we had more time to explore this past visit. We will have to set aside more time the next visit!
