Very friendly and helpful staff and the location was perfect, central and near the esplanade, walking distance to the sea and eateries.nRooms spacious and clean, comfortable beds and linen. Very large bathroom also, clean and well serviced.nThere were pigeons in the pool area but full disclosure I am fond of pigeons and didn’t find this a nuisance.
Loved staying here. The room was awesome, clean, amazingly comfy beds with beautiful clean linen. The pool was a welcome delight with a refresh dip! Lisa and the team are exceptional and only to happy to help!! 5 stars from me and as Arnie said, I'll be back!!
Doesn't seem like this place is ever cleaned. Not sure what they do in the morning when people leave. Inside the room and the whole place was a dark, musty and dirty mess.nThe floor hasn't been vacuumed, food all inside the microwave, coffee plunger had mess all over it, stains on the beds and floor. This was a very expensive stay and they made out it was a better room because it had a river view. Not sure I would want a room looking out over the pool area though as that was as rough as the rest of the place.nFor the amount charged, you'd expect to have somewhere to stay that is clean and tidy!
$229 a room. I/we hate getting ripped off. What a dump. We have been fooled by the photos/pictures on the Emeralds website. Our room was very disappointing. It all started with the heat pump, staff from reception were involved, after several attempts and having to use several heat pump remotes, they managed to get it working. All batteries in the tv remotes needed replacing. No kitchen sink, you wash your pots in the bathroom sink. The inside of the fridge was not clean. The room smells. The hotel corridors infact smell. No bedside lamps in our room. Shower curtain was mouldy. Fill the jug/kettle in the bathroom sink. Balcony is dirty. Pigeon problem. Cutlery is still dirty. No tea towel for the dishes. After spending 2 hours in the hotel room and reading the reviews of the Emerald hotel. We tolerated it as much as we could then we packed our bags and returned to reception. We expressed our experiences to the duty manager and we were told we may not get a refund due to our length of stay. We Arrived at 14.00pm and left at 16.00pm.nWe were told to email the owner. Which we have now done at 19.30pm from different accommodation we found in Gisborne. Much better accommodation might I add.nSo we'll see what the owner has to say for himself.nWhatch this space!!
TO THE OWNER!nMuch THANKS of APPRECIATION to your friendly kind caring supportive welcoming team, Big shout out to…Hotel Manager LISA GILLIES and her fabulous housekeeping staff’ for their excellent hospitality! Our previous visit to Gisborne was not for leisure but sadly to sort arrangements for the passing of a dearly loved one. Lisa’s friendly caring nature and support helped ease that pain Ensuring everything we needed for a comfortable stay was ready and available!! Hence why we highly recommended to whanau, friends and colleagues as Gisborne NO:1 friendliest Hotel to book !!!!
