Pregnancy is a normal, natural life event, and we look forward to working with women and their whanau in the Gore and district areas.
As Lead Maternity Carer (LMC) midwives we provide pregnancy related care for pre-pregnancy/conception advice, pregnancy and the first six weeks following the birth of your baby/babies based on the latest evidence-informed midwifery practices. Within our role we work closely with other health providers whom we may refer to in circumstances which can arise during pregnancy. Throughout your pregnancy any issue for referral will be discussed in full with you ensuring any choices or decisions you make are based on full information disclosure.
From your booking visit until you are 28 weeks pregnant you will have an antenatal appointment every four weeks, then every 2nd week until you are 36 weeks pregnant and weekly from this point until birth. If issues arise during pregnancy, antenatal appointments will be adjusted appropriately based on your individual needs. Following the birth of your baby, our visits at your home will be based on your needs and are negotiated on an individual basis.
From 7am until 8pm Monday until Friday we are available for routine phone calls regarding questions, concerns or issues related to your pregnancy, and encourage you to leave a message in the instance we are unable to answer a call. Outside of these hours and during the weekend we would only expect urgent phone calls.
