We visited for the train ride and the pottery course, and both were money well spent! The history of how this place came to be, combined with the endless artwork and pottery scattered around, made for an enchanting experience. The train ride up to the Eyefull Tower was particularly memorable. The love and talent poured into this place are evident, making it well worth a visit. The pottery class was also incredibly fun—I made a mug and a bowl, which are due to be glazed and mailed out soon. I can't recommend this place enough. The staff were friendly, passionate, and informative!
What a great experience! I did the pottery experience at DCR on the 3rd Feb 23. This is a fabulous taster into throwing clay. Im not going to say I was very good at it, but it was great fun and if you are coming to the Coromandel this is well worth spending some time. And definitely do the train ride whilst you're here!

You'll be surprised what unique pieces each person can make with the same lump of clay! :
First time behind the wheel spinning clay for us and we absolutely loved the 90-min beginners class. Greg the instructor was a great and patient coach ensuring that we got two pieces to take home. The picture is of our clay before going into the kiln. Definitely worth it to pay for the shipping as a souvenir. Must do activity if you're in the area!
My kids and I have never done pottery before and we LOVED it! Sam was a patient and encouraging tutor and we can’t wait to see our glazed results. Absolutely going back again
