I did the interview in this company for 1 hour . Ashy and another lady are the interviewers, they both are extremely nice and professional. Although I didn’t work there cos my personal reasons, they gave me a very positive impression for this company, I highly recommend this company for anyone who interested in . I also questioned the negative reviews from here , they explained to me and I accepted their explanations.nwell, the company is very big, worth to try by yourself. nThanks Ashy and another lady nPlus, I have to say the receptionist is not that nice
I visited this site to find out what Downer NZ did. I was applying for a job there, and of course, you need to do a little research on the company. Personally, I feel they could make their website a little easier for those who have no knowledge in the infrastructure, construction, etc. world. It's such a big corporate company, and trying to navigate the information given can be a little stifling.
Worked for them for 2 years. Regardless of your level of education, everyone started on minimum wage being led by an abusive supervisor who many times got his position because he knew the right people, not because he is more educated or knowledgeable than you. You are expected to outperform working at times 12, 14 shifts without any extra gratification than your starving “living” wage. I had in my workplace people who were around for 10 years on a dollar more than me. Heaps boys were depressed and suicidal non stop. If you try to improve things or complain about anything, you will be penalised. Miserable and toxic workplace. And if you have serious health problem, thanks to the slave work that you are expected to do daily, you are left on your own. Rubbish.

Had one tradesman just turn up with out knocking on the door to advise what he was doing. Just walked around the property. Turned the outside taps on. No communication. The previous 2 men from downer were respectful and had the decency to actually advise what they'd be doing. The man who showed up today just didn't care and did whatever as he pleased. Made me feel uncomfortable to be honest.
