Dixie Browns

Lovely atmosphere, clean establishment and very attentive staff. We did not have to wait long at all for seating, to order or for our food to arrive. There was mistake made regarding what I ordered vs what was brought out to me. The lovely lady in charge possibly the owner was so gracious. She apologized and assured me it would be corrected and how. Very professional thank you kindly.

The staff were very attentive and friendly. Had the seafood chowder and it is by far the best chowder I've had in Tauranga. Superb. There's heaps of food choices, as well as desserts! There's also a barista so you can grab a cuppa even late in the evening when all the other shops around have closed. Great atmosphere, great food, great staff.

My wife and I went to Dixie Browns for lunch a week ago. The location is very handy with outdoor seatings available.nnIt was a bit chilly when we visited the restaurant so we took an indoor table.nnMy first impression of menu was that it wasn’t cheap. But when the food was served, that really proved me wrong.nnThe portions are very generous, even with fries. We ordered corn cake and fried chicken & waffles for our main dish and had truffles & parmasan fries added as a side dish.nnThe corn cake was a bit dry so while it was tasty to begin with, it became hard to chew and swallow by the end. Chicken and waffles were delicious but perhaps syrup was a bit too much.nnFries were our best dish for the day. Parmasan with fries cannot go wrong, and to add a hint of truffle to expand the scent, it was great.nnCoffees were good also. Staff were kind and attentive.nnI believe it’s a great family restaurant and I think it’s great for anyone wanting a casual dining experience.

I enjoyed it here, the service and atmosphere was really nice, they served good drinks too. however, for the price, the food was disappointing. The quality of the food was good, just poorly cooked. My steak was black on the outside and rare on the inside. Didn't enjoy the burnt taste after a while $46 for the steak + sauce, so I'd expect the steak to be cooked nicely.

An updated review. Wow what a different experience! The service was night and day more timely, perhaps today was better staffed?nnThe food is delicious we had the caramel latte which was pretty good and the Belgian waffle was really good but it was kind of burnt also we had the toastie which was amazing also the bacon was great some of the best ever, as well me and my brother tried the milkshakes and I would really recommend them I would recommend the breakfast special because it is good food but really cheap.all in all we had a wonderful breakfast and would love to come back!
