Devon On The Wharf

Came here seeking authentic Turkish food for my birthday. Turkish plate was disappointing, while the hummus was smooth the falafel were rock hard like they were quickly cooked from frozen in fact I think they are Leader brand and served with a floppy warmed flour tortilla think Farrah’s wraps from supermarket instead of bread. Whole thing was flavorless and unseasoned.nnLahmacun did not have much flavour, and the flavours that were there were confused with the addition of pesto, and toppings made the pizza base very soggy. Edges of the pizza bread were good though, so I used that to dip into the hummus.nnChocolate frappe was good.nnSadly we had issues with pests while in their sheltered outdoor seating. Found a dead fly at the bottom of one of our drinks and a large black cockroach appeared on my arm chair an inch from my leg. The waitstaff and owners were very rude to us regarding this. We were told it was to be expected and that we were overreacting, that it can’t be controlled and that we should expect a seating experience “similar to being on a park bench” when picking their outdoor lounge. I understand this can happen but the response was unkind and defensive which soured the already below average experience. So if you choose to dine here be prepared for cockroaches and dead flies. Certainly not what I would expect with their expensive meal and service prices.

A truly beautiful spot for anything from a sundown drink with a friend to a sit down dinner with family. The food is outstanding and service is quick and friendly. Definitely will be back.

The food is standard for its price, the pork hock was more bone and crisp than meat. It was such a simple dish even the noodle salad had no flavour, and didn’t go with the pork at all. My partner got food poisoning from his plate, the portion sizes don’t make sense for the price. & had to wait 15 minutes to order dessert so I left.

Such a wow cafe and restaurant with lots of options for breakfast and brunch.nIt has the view that I wished for nMinimal decoration with various types of sitting and quite lively.

A spacious and cosy cafe located by the Devonport pier.nGreat food and coffee with excellent service. It also has a small takeaway bar for simple pastry and ice cream.
