Another authentic middle eastern food in Central Auckland. Hummus, naan and kebabs are good.nnWas expecting different style of Kunafe, here its made in completely different style than what I had in other places, I didn't like this personally.
A decent Middle Eastern restaurant that offers huge platters and a variety of dips. The hummus, in particular, stood out for its excellent consistency and taste.
We came by for dinner on a Monday. I did try to book using their email but didn't get a reply but was able to get table since it wasn't too busy. The decor was quite interesting, particularly near the entrance. There were quite a few tables on top of the stairs.nThe menu has a nice range of Middle Eastern fare including those from the grill. You did need to head up to the counter to order. We grabbed a Baba Ghanoush to start and a mixed platter and mutton nihari for mains. The service size was decent and the mixed platter came with sauces and salad. The flavours were quite nice. The nihari was essentially a shank with meat that fell of the bone. It also had a nice heat to it.nThey also did have dessert at the back of the counter if you have a sweet tooth.
Despite the excellent food at Restaurant des Tradition, our experience was marred by unnecessary confrontation. Despite being informed on a previous visit that bringing our own drinks was acceptable, the owner complained about it this time, which was highly disappointing. Furthermore, the lack of availability of larger soft drink options only exacerbated the situation.nWould request the owner to include big drinks to avoid these situations.
Karahi Gosht, if you truly appreciate this King of Curry, then tell me another place in Auckland that serves it.nServed on-the-bone, as it should be, tenderest of lamb, suitably seasoned and spiced, a kilo of total enjoyment.
