We’re visitors from the USA, we were treated with patience and kindness by the very pleasant staff here. Very welcoming. For example, visitors may not intuitively know what “P120” means, some non-communications back room civil servant person devised that, but the staff without laughing said oh yeah that is indeed unclear, you may park for free for 120 minutes. Nice. This is a nice place for light eats or breakfast/brunch. Coffee was good, they grilled a la plancha iron as they say in Miami my breakfast sandwich, and my wife had their good minute steak. This is a nice place in a nice town.
We had brunch at this cafe today, and it was one of the worst meals ever. If you are going just for coffee, beer, or a muffin, then it would be fine. Otherwise, it's not worth spending money here, as the quality of the food is not great. The avocado was not ripe enough to eat, and the sourdough bread was so hard that it was difficult to eat. In the granola, the grapes were rotten. Overall, we were not satisfied with the food quality and customer service. One of the young girls who served us didn't smile and didn't talk with us at all. It was as if she just wanted us to eat and leave.
This restaurant is a popular cafe-restaurant in Orewa. My partner and I ordered two coffees along with the big breakfast and the spicy sausage breakfast for our brunch.nOverall, the meals were satisfactory. Despite my partner's hunger, the food effectively filled our stomachs. While the restaurant maintains a good reputation, I personally find it good but not exceptionally outstanding.
The service was good, however the meals were underwhelming considering the price. My burger bun tasted stale and my wife’s Eggs Bene sourdough bread also tasted stale.nThe food seemed to lack some love!nWon’t be revisiting. Honestly this is a couple times where the food has been substandard when eating out recently. Certainly expected more from Dear Coasties considering their popularity?!
Don't waste your time and money.nnPasta was bland. Pancakes too dry and the croissant was too dense
