Only thing I have to say is to the owners of this place. How can you charge $8 for this vegetarian sándwich, little one and not even that good. Not even the airport dares charging this money for a little sandwich. So overpriced, absolutely ridiculous.
Bare walls let sound echo which makes it very loud and uncomfortable, the kitchen was closed at three, the salad from the counter was too salted and pepped, coffee was half cup and very watery. I just left the food uneaten and went to buy sushi in the food court...Food: 1/5
Fast service, but bad food, and an unsafe baby seat. 2 stars instead of 1, only because they did refund the order albeit with a poor attitude. The cabinate food looked at least a day old; Avocados had gone brown, and sauces were drying up. So I ordered a menu item, the avocado and halloumi bruschetta + egg. A good thing was the fast service. Food arrived within 10 minutes. When food did arrive, the egg was cold and undercooked. And im not talking about a runny yolk, which is fine, but the egg whites inside were still clear, which is not. The avocado was caked in salty seasoning, and the bread was soggy. They only had 1 baby seat, which had a wobbly broken base and a degraded velcro strap. We put our 6 month old in, and he slid down and almost out when the velcro came loose. Not safe. Returned the food after some back and forth with the chef and a rude manager who assumed we had already eaten all the food. Wouldn't eat it if you paid me! This place used to be good, but I'm not sure if they changed management or are trying to cut costs or what.
Coffee was good but unfortunately there was lipstick on the cup still. Food was okay but came without some of the toppings it was supposed to have. Not terrible, but there's better places to go so I'd recommend giving this place a miss.Food: 3/5
After being told food would be 20 minutes, we're still waiting an hour and half later. Hubby has spoken with 2 staff and still we wait. People who came in after us are eating, and still we wait.. so moral of story is... don't come to eat here, you'll be left starving! Zero stars from us thanks!!
Coffee good, food good. Pleasant staff. Bit slow, but that was advised on ordering, so no complaints. Decor tired, I feel needs a good clean, and/or spruce up.Food: 4/5
Sadly yet another business that thinks customer service is optional, and prioritises themselves over providing a good customer experience. Arrived at the Riccarton Mall branch at 4.59pm today when the mall closes at 6pm. Was told that it was takeaway only after 5pm and I couldn't sit down to relax with a coffee. This is complete laziness. There is no excuse for not serving sit down drinks with an hour left before closing. As with similar businesses, they have now permanently lost my custom, which is a shame because prior to this I've had a drink there at least once a week. When will NZ businesses learn that it is customers that keep them alive?
Appalling!! Customer service below average. Food overpriced & Appalling quality. After watching young guy running his hands through his hair before delivering our coffee, I suggested to him that this wasn't a good look! He started with a barage of excuses for doing so. 1st - unfortunately sometimes I have to do this as my hair goes in my eyes it was boof, but not in his eyes 2nd - I suggested because he's in hospitality, go get a haircut. 3rd - he said he couldn't afford a haircut. Another person in my group suggested a hair net. 4th - well I can't because we don't sell hair net's. He then walked away! I am pleased although he couldn't afford a hair net, that he could afford the Mother energy drink. Is this a case of if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys?! Sad thing is the Owner of this franchise obviously couldn't care less of standards nor the reputation of COLUMBUS COFFEE. Thank you CATE & HER TEAM IN TIMARU FOR UPHOLDING THE STANDARDS OF COLUMBUS COFFEE we will continue to return
Highly customer unfriendly, very disappointed. Cares about the same amount for its customers as it does for the quality of its exceedingly average and way overpriced coffee. I arrived 55 minutes before closing and they were already shutting up shop, this is really just not on. I will pass on having my daily coffee here in future. One star.
Update: they have responded to this review requesting me to email them which I have done on 17/04/23 and have not had any response back. I used to come to this cafe weekly, however since it has changed ownership it has not been the same. Today my mum and I ordered the bacon rosti from the cabinet and after it was reheated in the microwave it was soggy, full of oil and the egg was not poached - looked more like hard boiled. The thought of eating it made me feel ill. There was no sauce or relish and the cheese on top had gone curdled and brown. The staff were nice and swapped it for a cheese scone. Not a great experience and I think that the owner/manager needs to reconsider the way the food is cooked.
