Never eaten here before , looked inviting so I walked in . I had bangers and mash , basic Gastro Grub but it was very tasty . The service was Great and the ambience was excellent with a slight RSA feel due to the military prints and photographs on the wall .
Totally recommend dining here, we all enjoyed our meals,decent sized servings and the service was great. We were also lucky enough to be seated next to the fireplace. We'll be back!
After last times experience of cold meals and meals comings out at complete different times . we thought we would give malones a 2nd chance . unfortunately we had shocking service for the 2nd time in a month .waiter brought food out there were 5 chips on my plate , we asked for more chips to be put on then she just rolled her eyes at us . We had multiple burger meals brought out to us that werent what we had ordered and no apologies at all . No one came and checked on us and seen how our meals were and took about a good 45 mins for plates to be cleared after we had finished eating the staff were all just standing behind counter chatting away so was not like they were busy . We were going to get dessert but again after the waiter carry on we decided to go to z petrol station , this was a booking of 10n. Very hard to come and support local and spend your money locally when you get service like this and definitely not hard to smile even if your having a bad day .
We went here because it looks like the best restaurant in Stratford, and it may well be the best. The location is great, with seating in the restaurant area, the bar, and outside. The restaurant was packed, so we sat outside and the outdoors area is great. It is large and has decks and paved areas, covered and open areas.nThe food was typical country town pub food. Reasonably priced, but nothing special.
If you go to this pub as a large group be warned they will not allow you to vary from the offered 'large group menu'. Being vegetarian is not ideal on this menu. One option only unless you want a salad or hot chips. I asked for the vegetarian burger from the main menu as I do not like curry at all, the only vegetarian option was a chickpea curry. I was told in no uncertain terms the chief would not allow me to have anything other than food from the menu offered. I tried to order the beef burger without the beef and extra cheese, it was a firm no.nThe woman manager attempted to be nice but was condescending with her explanations. I had a side of hot chips for my 'main'.nThe only shining experence was our waiter, he was charming, kind and great at his job. He was apologetic for what happened, he deserved real credit for his management of the situation.nOverall the experience was embarrassing and it's not great to leave a food establishment hungry.
