We had booked for a single night...decided to stay for a second as place was great.nFree upgrade to chalet as they weren't fully booked. Gorgeous location. Friendly host. No complaints at all...would love to return.
Overpriced and quite disappointing. Our room was hot and stuffy. A bit shocked to find hair in the basin and shower and cobwebs with spiders in the bathroom. The greeting at reception was unfriendly and not welcoming. Location is lovely across from the lake but you will need to drive back to town for food and supplies. Murky water from water supply, I’d suggest bottled water.
Convenient location with a fantastic sea view and lush green hillside next to gallery cosy clean and service very helpful nga mihi.
Very disappointed. Location is lovely with sea view, BUT the condition of the chalet we stayed in was not acceptable, particularly for the room rate. Cobwebs galore, unit smelt very musty, a cockroach and big black spider were on the couch on two different occasions. Mould on the ceiling in the bathroom and a number of holes in the shower rose were blocked, so the shower was not good. Kitchen cupboards not clean and not well equipped. Guest laundry was untidy. Washing machine and dryer did not work well. Will not be returning.
My mother has lived close to this motor lodge for almost 10 years. We’d never needed to stay but needed accommodation for Easter so booked in a few months ago.nThe arrival was fine, greeted by the receptionist, given key & clear description of where to park. Then she said that the windows were open to air the room out and alarm bells started ringing.nI was super disappointed by the outside. As we had booked for 2 adults, 1 child, we were not in the cute A-frames I’d always looked at, but rather the cottages behind the neighbouring houses there goes the view of the sea I’d imagined.nIt’s really drab but the major disappointment was the mildew smell and feeling. There was a reason why they’d opened up the windows!nI was really tired and would have loved a nap but instead I read my book for 20 minutes, my husband and I agreed it wasn’t the greatest place to hang out, shut the dehumidifier in the bedroom and returned to my mother’s for the rest of the day.nThe place is tired. Mattress is comfortable as is the 2 seater couch, but the bathroom is poky and has one of those metal shower boxes with a curtain that my husband has regaled me with tales of how is feet used to freeze to the bottom of in the 80s cos it’s so cold. I don’t want a shower in there - I’ll wait until I get home.nThe kitchen is adequate, once again old and hasn’t been touched since installation in 70/80s. And it’s super beige and drab.nI can still smell mildew 8 hours after having the dehumidifier on but there’s no real road noise at night which is great.nLocation is on the Thames Coastal highway and runs between the national park and the ocean so it’s a gorgeous spot but it could just do with some updating and better ventilation.
