Loved this wee find in Lyttelton Harbour on the main street. Quirky, fireplace, gorgeous layout, fab coffee and snacks mid afternoon. Would visit again
Lyttelton is like a dessert on a Monday night for places to eat and drink. Thank goodness for this Oasis. On arrival we were greeted by the super friendly bartender whose name I didn’t get but his customer service skills were first rate. As the Chef had managed to injure himself the bartender cooked us some fries and croquets the portions were enormous. Two local girls who were clearly down on their luck came into the bar, there was no judgement shown by the bar staff and they allowed them the opportunity to get warm. When we shared our meal with the girls I was shocked when the Bartender gave us a free drink for our kindness. A wonderful bar serving good beer with excellent staff. We will be back.
I just love this cosy quirky place. Such great ambiance and definitely not run of the mill nor are the colourful patrons who are characters just like this character filled establishment. This is my 2nd visit in the past 4 years. I loved it the first time and this latest visit did not disappoint. The menu is not extensive but it doesnt need to be. The 4 dishes we ordered were superb! Cooked to perfection, tasty as hell! I gave the chef that feedback too. Why wouldn't you when it's well deserved. The bar service person was a little lax I guess it could be interpreted as part of the charm to be honest so be prepared to be pro active to get what you want. Highly recommended
Wine choice was excellent. Atmosphere is great. Food was very disappointing. Beef croquette was a potato croquette with the occasional piece of rubbery beef, seasonal vegetables- a pile of asparagus cooked averagely, the beef cheek was as good as last time. The impression I got was this place is under new management - sadly.
Aside from the semi-disinterested staff, the food is good. Beer is occasionally good and often naff. I am puzzled why this is the only venue in this group Inkster that don’t serve imperial pints while charging the same.
