The Christchurch Foundation's vision is to foster and promote philanthropy for the betterment of our community. We are a registered charity (CC54845) though which generous people and companies give to causes within our city.

The Christchurch Foundation will offer a range of ways to give and donor management services - providing donors and businesses the opportunity to give to the community.
This entity does not take the place of or compete with specific causes or organisations instead it will:
- actively draw in new resources
- actively service donors
- actively and positively engage and work alongside existing non-profit organisations, charities and fundraisers
- provide a city-wide vehicle for donors, to more easily give to a range of causes and communities
- provide professional advisors with a simple gateway for their clients' giving
- provide a range of giving mechanisms, such as bequests, endowments, diaspora or expat giving and city partner programmes
- promote Christchurch and its causes generally
