Story

Come and see the latest dishes, cocktails and trends in the kitchen at Charley Noble. Charley Noble is named after the smokestack on the old sailing ships kitchen galleys. It used to be part of the tradition of galley kitchens to clean the smokestack till it shone, and to clear out the soot they used to fire a pistol up there. Hence "firing Charley Noble".

We use fire in a different way - aging our meat and cooking it over fire pits to give it a wonderful taste. Enjoy a state of the art bar with new and traditional cocktails, a brilliant wine list and even a raw bar. Bookings available on Sundays only, or anytime for groups of more than 8 people. The food is delicious. It’s so much more than just a steakhouse. Every bite of food was sensational, the flavours were melt in your mouth good. The service was amazing, friendly, attentive and added to the wonderful atmosphere. I also thought the prices were very reasonable for what you got. Big fan, will definitely be back
You can never go wrong with dining here! Such a great experience with great food for the price! Don’t be fooled with the size of the steaks. Me and my brother got two sides to share and couldn’t finish them! Portion size is great even though it does look on the smaller size. Great red wine selection but unfortunately I would stay away from their cocktails.
The food and wait staff were great. Stand out dishes of the ones we tried were the grilled octopus, venison, and flounder. The tiramisu was also excellent. Their wood-fire adds an intense smokiness that you don't often get at other places. Wait staff were friendly and the kitchen was prompt in getting the dishes out despite a very full restaurant.
We were visiting to catch up with old friends and they suggested Charley Noble. There are no bookings so you may have to wait for a table but they are spot on with their waiting times. You can have a drink at the bar to wait. The food showcased what New Zealand has to offer. It was all delicious. Loved the fact that a lot of food was cooked over an open fire. The staff were all amazing. Highly recommend. Vegetarian options: Available Kid-friendliness: I would not think this is a great place for kids. Just amazing! Located in town, this restaurant is an institution in Wellington. Service is great, place is big and beautiful a bit noisy, but I guess its part of the atmosphere and the food is AMAZING! Kids loved their meals as much as the adults. It's great for just 1 person o big groups. Highly recommended!
Lovely meal here, restaurant is in a beautiful building, lovely staff and great service. Food was great. Union Pacific cocktail was lovey but the baldwin cocktail was quite unbearably strong. Maybe it’s just an acquired taste but I would not order it again.
The team somehow managed to fit us in on a very busy night, and boy are we pleased we waited. We asked our host to “feed us” and she did so brilliantly. Every dish a winner, with the pork belly and eggplant dishes being the standouts for me. A great spot to dine in Wellington
Very decent 'casual fine dining' I'd call it. Prices fair for the quality of what you get and the service from wait staff was great, special shout out to Ben who ran us through the specials and looked after us for the night. There are only a handful of cocktails on the menu but it says 'Classics always available' so we ordered Mojito, Spicy Margs and Moscow Mules which was no issue. Charly Noble burger is nice but comes with a very sweet bun, almost like a muffin flavour if that's your thing you'll love it. For dessert highly recommend the chocolate torte
Amazing food, great friendly staff. Nothing was a problem. We had a table of 8 of which 2 were gluten free and 1 coeliac. Would highly recommend.Food: 5/5
3.5 stars. Enjoyed our meal here for the most part. Ordered a second hot chocolate because the first was so good. Partner had the burger and it was very good but not any better than a very good $20 burger elsewhere. The gnocchi was delicious. However, one of the staff, well, stank. I noted it to another staff member who said he would tell the manager. The young and rank gentleman did not change his shirt at any point. If I had to pay full price had a gift card; this is not our usual type of place, I would have been pretty disappointed. It's got a great look but, yeah, staff should be clean! Also, I always forget in fancy restaurants that even though they say tap water and sparkling water as if they're equal options, remember that sparkling water costs a fortune. Eleven bucks! Probably won't go back.
