Chardonnay Motor Lodge Hotel

If you are planning a trip to Christchurch then you should plan to stay at the Northwood Motor Lodge. The rooms are super clean and have everything you need in a self contained apartment. Bedding was fresh and towels were super fluffy in the bathrooms. The WiFi is very fast and you get a nice strong connection. The rooms are modest but have everything you could want during your stay. The grounds are very well maintained and you can tell that a lot of effort is put into maintaining the property to a high standard. The thing that stands out the most is the unbelievably friendly owner. Peter is the nicest most wonderful host you could ask for. Nothing is too much trouble. He communicated perfectly before our arrival and picked us up from the airport and dropped us right at our motel door. He explained the room and asked for our choice of milk before returning with a full litre not the scabby little ones you normally get at hotels!. The next day he was so kind to pick us up at the cafe where we had breakfast and take us to our car rental pick up. The price is so reasonable you almost feel bad for the value for money. We stayed in this accommodation the day before flying from the airport. Our experience there was fantastic. The room was spacious and clean. With a small kitchen as well. The accommodation exceeded our expectations and the hosts are exceptional. Incredibly friendly and willing to help you. Highly recommended. For us it was great. Thanks for everything.

My partner and I stayed while applying for jobs in New Zealand and ended up extending our stay for five extra nights! Peter and Tessa were so accommodating and friendly during the duration of our stay! Amazing costumer service and knowledgeable about the area! The room itself was extremely clean and comfortable, and the housekeeping staff were great and the kitchen has everything you need to make easy meals. The grounds were so well maintained with beautiful flower gardens. The area is beautiful with lots of walking trails and parks a short distance away at the Groynes and about a 20 minute walk to Willowbank Wildlife Reserve! The hotel is also very close to the airport and Tessa drove my partner and I to the airport with all our luggage when it was time for us to go. THANK YOU Peter and Tessa for an amazing stay - we will definitely be staying again if we find ourselves in Christchurch in the future !

Extremely friendly owner. Great customer service. Clean and tidy rooms. Well setup small kitchen. Very close to the airport. Large play area and a wonderfull garden. My wife and I needed a place to stay for a night at Christchurch and we choose this as it was close to the airport 10 mins via Highway. We were greeted by Peter who is definitely the most friendly and likable person I have met in our entire two weeks trip in New Zealand. We had a bit of trouble processing our cards and I have never seen any person so patiently guide us through such a pickle. The rooms which were studio style were just as advertised - clean, comfortable with a small kitchen setup. The place is a bit close to the Highway but it was very quiet at the night without any motor sounds. The place has an amazing garden and all the pictures I have posted for this review are flowers directly from their garden. All 20 pictures are of entirely different plants and all from their same small garden. For someone who takes such a good care of their garden you can guess the care taken towards the rooms!

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying here not long after Peter and his lovely wife had started redecorating We needed somewhere close to home and my husband's work. The day we arrived I had said that our grandson was with us for the weekend and they added a single bed into the room for 2 nights and we still had plenty of space for the 3 of us We stayed for about 10 days or so while EQC under went the repairs done to the slab during the earthquakes. The carpet was never lifted and looked under until 3 weeks before they were due to start, this was about 4 years ago and we were going home to care for the animals although as they apologized for the room not being up dated we could have brought the dog with us, which was a lovely gesture. Nothing was a problem, if fact we told them we didn't need clean sheets every 3 days, nor clean towels every morning. We would certainly recommend it to anyone who just wanted to have a few days holiday away from home as it was such a lovely quiet place. Wanting a hideaway for your honeymoon and you can't take lots of time off , it's the perfect retreat. It's grat reading all the lovely reviews. As I said our room hadn't been redecorated or updated but it was spotless as it was. Sorry for the delay in posting this review. We are both pleased that it's all going wonderful for you both. What was something I was dreading as we suddenly had to physically move everything out the house on short notice and they were our island in a Storm. It became a lovely place to have a working vacation. Rooms: All ready said, I'm not sure what is meant by high tech, it had all the tech we needed Nearby activities: Although we live not that far away you have not far to go to the Groynesand their activitiese, Willowview Wildlife, a short drive to Antarctic Center and Airport. Orana Park for the larger Wildlife, a short drive of 30 minutes and your in Papanui with all their amenities as well as Northwood Center or Belfast. All having cafe style to more intermittent dining, or takeaways for the teenagers. Safety: I had to think about this question but I certainly didn't feel unsafe and our grandson explored it thoroughly There was good parking, plenty of lights and of course it's up to the people staying to take care of their personal safety as you do at home. Plus there are plenty of tips on line to make you feel safer if that's an issue. They offered to store anything of value in their safe and if I was going to some other places outside the country then it's still your responsibility for your personal safety as well. Walkability: Certainly a few lovely places close to where you are able to walk. I think most people would drive to the local walks. Mostly I would recommend a quiet walk along the local stream

I had such a peaceful stay at Northwood Motor Lodge. The trees were in their autumn finery. The room was top notch and immaculately clean, but it is the kind and thoughtful hosts, Peter and Tessa, that will keep you coming back again and again. They put their heart and soul into making your stay as pleasant as possible. Trust me, you won't be disappointed! Walkability: Just a five minute walk to the Groynes - a beautiful park.

Wow, if you need a place to stay in Christchurch this is the best one. I have stayed in a few places and none come even close this. Peter you and your wife are absolutely wonderful. Never have I experienced the service we got from you any where else. You picked me up from the rental company when I dropped off the camper. You drove us to the restaurant and picked us up after. We will come and stay again when we next come down. Peter make sure you go see those lakes Rooms: Had everything you needed. Quality everything, linen great beds& towels great thought went into furnishing the room

stayed here recently and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. The owners - Peter and Tessa are both lovely people and offering great services. The room is clean and well kept. And it is approx 10 mins away from the airport. Highly recommend place to stay if you are in Christchurch.Rooms: 5/5

Peter and Tessa their services were beyond my expectations. They went through the extra miles by helping us to settle real quick for the night. The rooms are really very very clean, beds are all nicely warm up for us to be tuck in.
