Situated at the Base of Cathedral Cove and only 5 minutes from Hot Water Beach, Hahei is the perfect spot to try the Discover Scuba Dive - no experience necessary! Just allow 3 hours for tuition and the Dive! With the Te Whanganui-A-Hei Marine Reserve and the awesome pinnacles and volcanic coastline only 5-10 minutes boat ride, certified divers can book on our specialised dive boat, either 9:30am trip or 1:30pm trip, and still have time to catch low tide. Quality PADI courses, from Open Water and Refresher to Divemaster. Snorkelers welcome on the boat trips or call into our store and grab your snorkel gear and head into Gemstone Bay, on the way to the Cove, and enjoy the large snapper, huge crayfish and abundance of fish on the Snorkel Trail. Got to snorkel at 2 beautiful spots! was a great 2 hour experience, we didn’t see heaps of fish at one of the locations, but we did get to see a big ray! and there was heaps of Snapper at gemstone bay! Our skipper was so friendly and knowledgeable would highly recommend.
What can I say that hasn’t been said already. This Dive shop and centre is incredible and PADI really need to recognise them more. I was fortunate enough to do my dive courses with them and I have to say it could not have been improved in anyway. Wendy’s business is a credit to the sport. The only thing that is parallel to her professionalism and attention to safety is her sense of humour and ability to make a long course fly by. Grace my instructor needs a raise. I can not repeat myself enough and champion this place more. Best 8 days of my entire trip so far in NZ. I had a blast , learnt how to dive , not once felt out of my depth pardon the pun and was made feel part of the dive family instantly. Excellent place to go and highly recommend people do the different dive courses with them ask for grace
Had a great time snorkeling, Adam was very knowledgeable and you can tell he loves his job. Spots were good, good variety of fish to see. We appreciated the drive by and stop at cathedral cove so you can get a pic. Wetsuits are super warm and floaty so don't worry about being cold or sinking.
I was doing a double dive and it was absolutely amazing. We could see lots of fish and also a Ray. Beautiful dive spot and friendly crew with a great sense for humor.
It was our first time diving. Oscar was our instructor. He did a great job teaching us what we needed to know before the dive. When we got out into the water, I was having trouble equalizing, but Oscar helped me through it. It was really amazing to see the marine life and to take our first breaths underwater. Would highly recommend. Thank you to the whole team at CCDS!
If you’ve decided that you want to snorkel in Coromandel, this is a wonderful company to choose. We had a great experience with Cathedral Cove. My family of five went snorkeling with them and they were great. They helped us all get fitted and suited up in wetsuits, took us out to a sweet island to snorkel for about an hour, and welcomed us back to shore with coffee and cookies. The staff was very friendly and we felt extremely safe. The only advice I would give is to call ahead and ask them about the temperature of the water. We went out on a sunny day in the end of November not thinking much about the weather, but the water was so cold three of us in the group only lasted in the water for about 20 minutes before getting back in the boat, even with very thick wetsuits on. Looking back on the experience knowing what I know now, I probably would’ve skipped snorkeling altogether as there are much prettier places in the word to snorkel than here. But, if the water is warm and you really want to do it, this is a great company to choose!
Had an amazing weekend doing our Advanced Open Water dive course. We had some great weather and magical diving. Our instructor, Ella, was incredible and knowledgeable. She helped us feel safe and comfortable underwater to progress our diving and have heaps of fun. Thank you so much!
Friendly and professional crew chose a great dive site where we saw a good number of animals. I would definitely go on dives with CCDS at Hahei when I'm on the Coromandel again.
Had an awesome first time dive with the Cathedral Cove team. Elise talked us through all the equipment and was right with us on the dive. Saw lots of different fish and sea life, including a whole school of bluefish swimming up by the surface! Had a great day and will be back for more.
A very friendly and professional PADI dive centre! The best I’ve been to by far. I headed out for two dives around the Cave Bay area and the whole experience was very well organised, laid-back, and fun!! The staff made me feel super comfortable I hadn’t dived in a year, so I was as a little rusty on setting up my gear. Thanks for a great day out :
