Carpe Diem Restaurant, Gulf Harbour

I was very disappointed today, when we arrived at the Pacific Bar for some nice food, a few drinks & some good music. We had not made a booking & unfortunately there were no free tables outside. The bar person was very blunt that there was no space available for us & made no effort at all to accommodate us. When asked if we could sit on the public wooden seats right next to the Pacific Bar, she said yes & but again bluntly stated that the waiters would not serve us there. Reluctantly, we finished our beer & then moved over to the adjacent "Chaits" restaurant where we were welcomed, ordered some great food and received fantastic service. Doubtful if I will ever return to the "Pacific Bar"

Lovely quiet and cozy restaurant with a beautiful view of the inner Marina, good food and wine.

AMAZING! This place definitely gives fine dining a run for their money! The quality of food, value for money, picturesque location, family environment, culinary skills, ambience and service is nothing less than OUTSTANDING! We had the most beautiful meal, Salt and pepper squid as an entrée made from scratch and 100% gluten free not like the frozen box kind you get in most places, I had the chefs special dish of Lamb rump that was to die for! It was cooked to absolute perfection and generous portion sizing! My daughter had trouble selecting from the kids menu she wanted everything and she is a fussy eater! I have been to almost every restaurant on the Coast, North shore and Auckland city a family of chefs and being in the trade myself Carpe Diem is by far the best place I have been and well worth the trip. Thank you so much for your fantastic food and great service, we will definitely be back with all of our friends and family!

Sadly, there isn't a zero stars option... The most useless service one can imagine! We just spent more than one hour waiting for two small salads and two pizzas and ended up leaving. Useless staff and a so-called manager who hasn't got a clue about customer service. We arrived at 6:45pm and sat down outside where we waited for ten minutes for anyone to take notice. It wasn't until I waived my hands in the air to signal that the staff who were chatting at the till noticed us and the girl then approached asking if we wanted to see the menu... duh!? She brought the menu and two cold drinks and then left us waiting another 15 minutes until I flagged down an older Asian man in restaurant uniform who was walking straight past us taking no notice. He then took our order and we waited and waited. I flagged him down again to order another Coke after he hadn't noticed the empty glass I parked at the edge of the table for them to see. And we waited and waited until I got up, went to the front desk and asked to speak to the manager. A young guy claimed to be the manager and then proceeded to tell me that the old guy hasn't put our order through to the kitchen...!? He said he'd get it done ASAP. He then came to our table and said the pizzas were ready but that the two Caprese salads had been forgotten. They are making them now and will bring them out together with the pizzas. We waited another 10 minutes and got nothing..! At 7:48pm we got up, paid for our Cokes and left... After one hour!

Went for Sunday afternoon drinks and food with friends. Service was so so so slow and only had 1 drink each the 2 hrs we were there as initial drink took so long to arrive, and no one asked if we wanted anymore after we finished it. Food was also slow to come out and not to its usual standard either.really sad as it could be a great place

Awesome thanks. Best waiter with great vibe n humour. Meals were delicious and better than expected. Good entertainment on. Just a wonderful place for a night out.

Ok. 8.30pm Thought Id go to somewhere local to have a pizza with my 2 grandsons 11 & 13 a bit of a treat for the school holidays walked into the bar with 15 customers to be told as soon as I walked up to the bar. NO CAPS NO SCOOTERS!!! Ok sorry boys outside. Could I have 2 Rasberry cokes an a glass of Pino Gris please I asked. Paid $16 for this and proceeded outside to sit in very windy conditions. OK. I thought support the local comunity. Honestly who would bother, I asked the bar manager Kalvin who huffed and puffed about doing his job, to confront an obviously older lady with his unwelcoming start to the evening. We left 35 minutes later. Apparently the absent owner is called Yong,??? No wonder the place is empty, I very much doubt whether I would bother going there again. They need to welcome everyone who would even bother walking in the door with open arms. Very Very Disgusting experience.

Good selection of food with reasonable prices. We found the kids meals quite generous, and the service, while average, was friendly.

Disappointing. Very! Its walking distance for me and it used to be a great venue but I have been twice in the last 2 months and won't be going again until someone tells me its improved. Yep, disappointing says it all.

The best restaurant we have been to on the coast, lovely fresh quality cuisine with good portions, never left there still hungry like some places excellent service and a great atmosphere.
