The food did not disappointed me and my guests. They enjoyed it so much and exclaimed that it’s like “on top of the world”. There’s a little bit of wait if you are not in a hurry. Excellent service too. Once again, a very pleasurable place to have a nice steak.Recommended dishesBurger, Sauce

Pretty awesome decor and vibe going on. Place was pretty full on a Wednesday, which was surprising. Good selection of beers on tap, with reasonable prices less than some other places, actually. Ordered the 250g rump. It came out cooked to my selection very well. The potato and salad complemented the meat very well very delicious dish.

I flew down from Auckland to take my parents out for their anniversary. We all ordered steaks and while the presentation is great, the only thing we could taste was salt, the hassleback potatoes that came on the side felt like they were soaked in salty water before frying, the steak itself was pretty juicy but as soon as you add the red wine sauce and the melted butter, everything again is overwhelmed by the taste of salt. Had really high expectations for Carlton’s bar but they were not met.

I and my friend visited here for having steak. And it was so great!!! I had medium well done steak and it was perfect.I liked side potato, salad, and sauce as well Also we had rose wine and passion fruit margarita and it was wonderful to have with steak. Staffs are so kind and sweet. I’ll definitely visit here to have steak again

One of the best Yorkshire puddings I've had in a while. Had the Mothers Day special. Great staff and very polite. Thankyou Joanna and other restauramt staff. Very polite, courteous and friendly. Thankyou chief best meal in a while.

We had a great meal here. All of the staff were really friendly. We were able to reserve a table online easily. I had the beef carpaccio for a starter, it was excellent. The steak for the main was cooked perfectly, and the agria mash I got as a side was delicious. Overall, the meal was really good, and I would definitely go back here again if I was back in Christchurch.

Our family of 5 came here for my daughter's 18th. The service was on point, very friendly and quite prompt even being busy. Food was pretty amazing apart from my dish was supposed to have beans and my partners dish everything was ready to eat apart from his potatoes which were scorching it burnt the roof of his mouth. We didn't complain but did mention it when we left. Most of our cocktails were delicious too apart from the margarita which was rimmed with way too much salt lol overall good atmosphere and good food

We went for a birthday and it was a large group. We had a nice private section, the waiter was lovely. Everyone ordered a mix of bar snacks and restaurant menu. Due to the size of the group the food was served in two parts. The kids chicken bites were large chicken tenders and nicely cooked. I ordered argentine style empanadas and waffle fries for mains. The seafood chowder looked freshly made and smelt great, the pork belly bites were a good bite sized pieces. The salmon was cooked until light pink but not too dry. All in all it was a nice place for a birthday dinner

Beautiful food and exceptional staff. Booked 2 hours prior. Dined in on Monday night 22nd November 2021 at 8pm, party of 5. Upon arrival we were seated and served drinks immediately. Our first server was a beautiful lady who was patient, kind and went above expectation to ensure we were satisfied. She was also we'll informed of the menu items, which helped us to determine what was best to order. She filled our water glasses when needed, as well as suggesting different beverages to accompany our meals throughout the night. Half way through our meals we changed waiters to a pleasant and humorous young man who also made sure our beverages were of the right liking as well as assisting with dessert options. His sense of humour was the perfect addition to end a beautiful evening. All in all it was a wonderful place to spend my last dinner with my whanau in Christchurch whom I hadn't seen in a year. The staff made the night enjoyable, the venue was cozy and welcoming with beautiful history on display and the food was the cherry on top as it was delicious beyond words would ever do Justice. I'm a big eater so along with my own choices of entrees, mains and dessert I tried everyone else's also.
