Fantastic and different lunch and pastry options. Stunning bagels and sandwiches. And the choux pastries... great flavours! The only downside is that if you eat in everything is served on paper plates and in paper cups. Not very sustainably responsible. I would expect better from an establishment like the Savoy.
Some of the best eclairs in London. I recommend their signature peach melba flavour, but to be honest you can’t go wrong with any of them. Reasonably priced at £3.50, when you compare to somewhere like Maitre Choux where you’ll pay £5 upwards.
My husband and I saw the afternoon tea at Savoy on Google and when we arrived we found we were wearing casual clothes so we didn't feel comfortable going in. However we found the Melba at The Savoy little store that makes us very happy we can try some of their deserts. We had the raspberry and cream bulee, both are perfect sweetness, refreshing, and it was delicious. We took one star down because the first staff when we first came in were not very friendly and treated us like invisible. However the second staff at least trying to ask what we are looking for.
The coffee is of an arabica variety with a medium to high intensity and a rich caramelised mouthfeel; not quite robusta and definitely not the more fruity, acidic variety. If that's your style of coffee then this is a very good drop for this style. They serve a beautiful and delicious selection of cakes, tarts and pastries. The tarts are very short with excellent fillings. The pastries are simple and made well and include the usual such as croissants. As you would expect, they provide an indulgent experience fitting of The Savoy.
Very tasty pastry! The stuff was very kind and helpful :
Just tried the vegan banana muffin as my dessert. Swear its the best vegan muffin i have ever had : v glad that they have vegan muffin. In future i hope they could do more vegan desserts. Overall Impressive! Was attracted by the decor and the tranquility of the pastry shop. Well done x
Disappointed! The eclair I got was supposed to be the most popular one peach melba but it was just overpriced £3.5, flavorless couldn't taste the peach at all!, and stale puff tasted old and soggy. Pass on coming here and go to Maitre Choux instead. Also I came around 10:30 and the shop supposedly opens at 7:30 but they were still getting the counter/pastries set up.. seemed a little odd? Staff wasn't particularly friendly either.
Despite the very sweet and efficient customer service the eclairs were just awful and we tried three! Maybe try the cakes or sandwiches there but the eclairs lack flavour in the inside and out and the choux is blurghhh! That is the only way I can describe it! Bad! Turns me off from trying the afternoon tea at the Savoy!
I had high expectations of this place, as they sponsored some Facebook ads and it appeared on my timeline and has the luxury Savoy on their name. However, what a disaster customer service. I was making a video of the nice eclairs that this place has, and after that, the girl working there, Jessica, was really rude to me asking like "You didn´t show us on the video, right? We don´t want to be on the video". She was very impolite and this is never how a customer needs to be welcomed in a place like this. She frustrated me since the beginning. It´s an inadmissible behaviour for a person who works there. Also, the cappuccino came on a take away cup even if you want to have your drink there. Very disappointing and terrible service.
You cannot walk out without having a dessert. The selection is great, changes frequently and has vegan options. I tried the pear and pecan brownie, and it was amazing!
