The portion for Big Kiwi can be improved given the price$24 for value. Cappuccino which we ordered was not that flavoury and strong/rich enough. Pie taste was good. The atmosphere was good tho.Food: 3/5
Called in for breakfast. Great waffles and berries. Great wait staff. Thanks team enjoy our breakfast. My wife does like her whitebait. Parking: Street parking so it depends on the time of your visit. Ok when we were there.
Very fresh and delicious pies. Better than Ferg Bakery pies tried 2 days ago at Queenstown.Food: 5/5
It’s Boxing Day, it’s very busy but all staff remained cheerful and friendly. Advised when placing the order there may be a bit of a wait. It wasn’t too long at all. The food was absolutely delicious. Full marks for a totally first rate experience! Value for money too!!!
Yummy breakfast, and the staff were super kindRecommended dishesWhite Bait Fritter
Great coffee, good food, well presented. Cafe tidy, spacious. Staff professional and helpful. Definitely a place to go on Hokitika.
Great food! Excellent service. But experience ruined by elderly owner berating young staff member while she was working hard to clear tables. He carried on at her to the point she had tears in her eyes. Come on, I know the cafe was busy but don’t take your stress out on your staff - they’re hard enough to get at the moment. Would have been a 5 star except for witnessing this.
Free unlimited wifi. There are some outlets in the second area near the toilets which is also a quieter space although there were some yanks whinging about the service. They did ask me if I was uploading stuff, so not the best working space. Didn't mind that I was taking video calls. Coffee and food was decent.
Food was average at best, nothing to shout out or complain aboutFood: 3/5
Super rude. This afternoon, we drove a few hours to Hokitika and needed lunch and the loo. Nothing in the cabinet took our fancy so we went to use the toilet. The old lady at the counter followed us into the toilet and asked us if we were going to buy anything and I said no and that we just needed to use the bathroom. She proceeded to gesture me out of the bathroom and said ‘well then there’s public toilets down the road’. I let my mum know she was already in the toilet and walked away. The lady continued with a foul attitude to say that she thought it was obvious and it was considered polite to buy something. We are from Australia and this kind of thing is very rare over there. Using the bathroom is a basic human need and therefore we are not required to buy anything to use it. If there was a sign stating this rule, we didn’t see it. We would have appreciated a friendly ‘just so you know for next time, it’s preferred that only customers of the Cafe use the bathroom’. I don’t think that is too hard. I’m sure the other staff are nice but this lady was nasty and we instantly didn’t want to be there. Wouldn’t count on her for hospitality or customer service. We’ve been all over NZ and she was the only person at the only place that has come at us this way.
