I had a deeply humiliating and suffocating experience at this store last Friday. I purchased a car battery at 4:14 PM after being verbally assured by the manager that an exchange would be 'no problem at all.'nI went straight to my mechanic, who confirmed the battery was not fit for purpose due to incompatible terminals. I returned to the store at 5:46 PM—less than two hours later—with the battery unused and the terminals still factory-sealed.nDespite her earlier promise, the manager’s attitude was incredibly hostile. She used minor surface scratches as an excuse to deny my legal rights and eventually kicked me out of the store. I felt completely helpless and trapped by this aggression. Looking closely at the product later, it became clear that they had actually sold me a previously returned battery as new, as those scratches were there at purchase. To sell a 'second-hand' return and then use its condition to block a customer’s valid refund is a clear violation of the Fair Trading Act.nThe next day, Bunnings Wellington Central confirmed the battery was in perfect, saleable condition and processed my refund in minutes. The management at Lyall Bay needs to be held accountable for this dishonest and abusive behavior. I felt completely powerless in a situation where I was clearly in the right.
This store has longer opening hours than the Tory Street location and offers a wider range of products.nThe staff are friendly and helpful. Special mention to one of the sales assistants who speaks French, which was a pleasant and much-appreciated surprise. nThe store is spacious, well organised, and it is easy to find what you are looking for.nI highly recommend it.
A very busy place, which obviously means its popular and trusted by those patrons which frequently return like myself. Aisles are nice and wide and easy to navigate with each aisle sign listing what items are down that particular aisle. A huge variety of powertools, gardening gear, camping gear, Paint, Timber. Plants, Storage, Flat packs, toolboxes, and so much more. The friendly staff are knowledgeable and helpful and willing to take the time to ensure you have the right product for your needs. There is a cafe onsite which sells hot drinks, cold drinks and cabinet food and there is also public toilets available.nPlenty of parking at the front and both sides of the building as well as on the street.nA big thumbs up, i'll be back for more goods.
Big range of products. Helpful staff with the exception of the paint department early in the morning. Well set out store with knowledgeable staff not far away. Plants are not top quality and are ok if you don't expect 100% survival rate. Check other goods for damage before purchasing. Christmas stock now in store.nnI loved the wide aisles that used to be here. Now I find they are cluttering them with products in/on display stands. Quite the pain to get past if there's another shopping trolley in the aisle, or to get what is on the shelf.nnGood range of nice looking plastic pots that aren't flimsy.
The staff are superstars, what a great team you have! So helpful, I went back 3 days in a row and feel like it's my ideal first date situation now. In fact, I'm considering the possibility of coming in more regularly because I feel like my future husband will be in there. Pet apparel range this year is on point for Wellingtons weather, and what a bargain at under $20! Run don't walk
