Great food, well priced - especially if you consider location and choice of cafes around!nAtmospheric rural bar: we liked pin-up art pics, billiard and a little fireplace.nSeafood chowder was bigger than a usual, and a steak was good as well as calamari salad.nFriendly service. And quick! We were the first ones at 6pm Saturday but by 7pm it was almost full. Great beer - was not expensive at all! nAddition: we returned next day… smoked salmon pizza was superb! Rich delicious taste, fresh ingredients. Well worth the price, especially if compared to the “value” of fast-food.nnI wrote this review genuinely, no prompts or whatsoever. Just sharing our honest opinion and wanting good people to keep going, so we would be able to have a great food even in such small places like Kaiteriteri.
Nice pizza, it was very busy so we did have to wait 45mins for food! Convenient location.
Bad experience all around, should’ve listened to the poor reviews - this place is a roll of the dice at best, I’d steer clear unless you’re patient and want to try your luck. Stopped by and told they’d have live music the next night so made a reservation. Showed up, no live music. Strike 1 but not the end of the world. Placed our order & 45 min later after seeing several tables that got served in ~20min we asked if they could check on our ordera pizza and a fish & chips. We were told just a few more minutes. After an hour and ten minutes checked again - this time they decided they lost the order and we’re told they’ll bring it out quickly and offer a free dessert to make up for it. Food did come out and was average. Ordered a scoop of ice cream for dessert - by now it’s not busy and the staff is chatting in the kitchen. 10 min later we ask where the ice cream is and are told they forgot and will get right to it. After 15 min we give up and let the manageror owner know we’re really disappointed that both dinner and the dessert to make up for it were late and required us to leave the table and check multiple times. Rather than an apology or even checking with his staff to find out what happened, he asks why we waited over an hour to check on our dinnerwe actually had asked twice and shouldn’t have to ask once and then goes on to say it was only 15 min and checking twice again for a scoop of ice cream so he doesn’t understand what’s wrong. That really said it all - no interest in providing good service, understanding what didn’t work with his team, or making the experience better for the customer. One of his staff at least stepped in to tell him they screwed up and lost the orderand forgot about the dessert.
This place is amazing! The salmon dish was excellent- light and refreshing with great flavor, and the owner, Anthony, and his staff are so wonderful! They’ll go above and beyond to make sure you’re enjoying your time in Abel Tasman! A must visit if you’re in the area… why not stay and enjoy the music while you’re at it!
Been there 4 times, quite a nice spot with out door tables and pet friendly.nSadly our last visit was marred by poor service or confused staff member, meaning one of the 4 of us didn't get a meal. Recommend they read your order back to you so you know you they have your order correct. Food when you get it is quite nice and the location and isolation means only spot around so can be rather busy.
