Short Story ~ My colleagues often get their lunch from Basu Lounge, they seem to be loyal customers, so that’s how I got introduced to this place. So, today I decided to give it a go. What I ordered - Chicken & Cabbage Dumplings in spicy sauce 10 pcs. this is one of their Top Selling items if the menu How much I paid - $17.80 What I liked - Portion, pretty generous What I did not like - Sweetness in the spicy sauce, where I come from sweet-base curry/ sauce/ gravy isn’t part of the meals so it’s the ONLY thing that did not work for me, may be not used to that taste! Value for money - Yes, absolutely Spice level - Item’s description is …..with spicy sauce, but it wasn’t spicy/ hot at all. Next time I’ll ask them to make it even spicier. Overall, not an unpleasant experience One may try if in/ around Takapuna, North Shore, Auckland
Not bad. A friend recommended trying this place. We ordered dandan noodle dumplings and dumpling noodle soup. I found the dandan noodle stodgy but the chilli sauce was on target. Wonton noodle soup very good.
I tried the dan dan spicy noodle soup... Its very authentic. Travelled from Otara to try these noodles I googled the best Sichuan noodle soup restaurants in Auckland and this is definitely up there with Xian food bars. Thanks for the experience. I would recommend this place to anyone that loves spicy noodles.

Extremely great value for money. The Dandan noodles taste amazing, come in a massive portion and cost only $12 - $14 depending on if you want meat or not. I've never been dissapointed. Just make sure to say "Not spicy" instead of "mild" if you don't like spicy food : Decor in this place isn't the greatest but the value for money greatly makes up for it. Vegetarian options: The base dandan noodles are vegetarian and taste absolutely delicious.
Basu Lounge is our go to spot when we visit the north shore, we always go for the peanut dan dan with pork mince and their marinated pork backbones. Their dumplings are decent as well. Depending on the day, you may receive a big amount of the pork backbones or a small serving. Despite that they are always very tasty.
Love the dan dan pork noodles here. The whole gang and I come here for these noodles almost every other week. They are traditionally spicy noodles, so even their “mild spicy” is your average medium spicy. Definitely recommend it! Dumplings taste average. Small casual place with limited seating.
my favorite Dan dan noodles!!! I love both hot and cold one. Dumpling and other salad is also awesome! Because all food is fantastic, others don't bother me at all!
Very average Chinese food, they forgot my meal Dan Dan noodles and so ended up asking for the money to be refunded back. They don’t offer water here so had to get our water bottles out the car and the chairs are wider than the table so they don’t fit into the tables legs. Also very close to other tables so overall a pretty poor experience
