Story

Phat beats, percussion grooves, future bass and mad synths. Balkstar will be bouncing it out from coast to coast in the Fake Love Tour of the America's in 2014. Balkstar is an artist/producer/DJ influenced by Dance Music, Bass Music, Dub Music & Electro Beats. He is an independent artist who's productions feature his signature sound, phat beats, percussion grooves, future bass and mad synths - aka Balkacore. He was raised in Aotearoa in New Zealand, educated at Dubspot in New York City, and currently lives in Amsterdam.Balkstar’s debut album Passive Aggressive was signed to US label/publisher Tomasian Entertainment LLC and released in September 2012 through the company's T Dance Digital music label imprint. The release spawned two maxi-single releases, title track "Passive Aggressive" and "What You Hold Today". The remixes on each maxi single featured winners of the T Dance Digital Balkstar Remix Contest hosted through Soundcloud. "Passive Aggressive" the full length release, as well as "Passive Aggressive" and "What You Hold Today" the singles, were official entries for nomination consideration in the 56th Annual Grammy Awards.When not producing music for release, Balkstar is working on sound design projects and developing music for video games through his own APE Productions. A highly creative artist, having produced a song using only the sounds created when opening a can of Red Bull, Balkstar continues to be one of the freshest new voices in the world of EDM while refining his Balkacore style.
