Auckland Airport

Had a 3hr layover here in the international area. Easy to transit, quite a few people...

Auckland was the first airport I arrived from the US in the morning. It is modern and spacious, with a welcome enviornment at customs but agricultural customs are hands on the strictest. You must declare any fruits and vegetables, seeds, nuts, meats, things from wood. They are not allowed to be brought into the country so that the country can mitigate and prevent pests and diseases to be brought in the country.nnYou can exit however if you want to go to the rental car you still have to walk down further until you find the directions.
I honestly think this airport is only a 4 but I'm giving it a 5 to help the overall rating.nnThis airport has everything. Simple, efficient and comfortable.nnIt will be better to have push carts after immigration.
Huge lines with very few staff working the checkpoints which makes the lines take even longer. Can we not figure out a more efficient way of getting passengers through a mostly automated process? After security, very clean and lots of seating. There is no food options over by gates 15-18, so if you want food or snacks get it before you make the long walk down that wing. Staff is very helpful, but tsa or security is still a nightmare as always.
Auckland airport definitely needs some improvements. Especially the arrival experience. The inspection area is dark and very crowded. Please make arrival zone visitors friendly.
The airport is modern and very spacious. It has all the needed facilities. Some restaurants ate expensive. McDonalds is really busy due to its affordability. I really like the view of the runway from the food court sitting area and gates. Car parking charges are expensive too just as other airports.
