Such a magical place. You can tell the owners love the place as it is held to such a high standard and they are always working hard to ensure the guests have the best experience possible. They go to an effort to learn every guests name and get to know you personally. Their love for the place radiates to all the guests who are happy and at home. Also great value for money! A home from home. Wonderful hospitality and a great place to chill. I put a four for rooms just so people will read this and not be upset when they find their dorm doesn't have a door. Didn't bother me and didnt detract from a great experience. Sheria is a beautiful person. Treats you like family and nothing is too much trouble. It's a unique place. We loved our stay at this Hostel! The atmosphere is so relaxed and friendly. The staff is wonderfull! They love what they are doing and they put a lot of effort into everything.nThere are selfmade treats every evening and breakfast every morning. It's easy to meet knew people and eventhough there are 28 beds in one dormitory it's quiter than some other places we've stayed in.nCan 100% recomand!
We stopped by just to use the shower facilities and were very pleasantly surprised. This hostel offers access to a shower for only 5 NZD, which is great value. Towels are provided, and there’s also a space to dry your hair and get ready. The environment is cozy, clean, and well maintained. Highly recommended!
tl;dr Excellent value and perfect location for travellers taking the ferrynnI stayed at Atlantis Backpackers twice in September before and after the ferry crossing, and it offers incredible value for money. The location is excellent; very close to the ferry terminal and perfect for a walk around Picton.nnThe facilities cover everything a traveller needs: the bunks are clean and comfortable, the showers are hot, and the kitchen is fully equipped with everything from hobs and ovens to plenty of fridge and freezer space. A simple breakfast of toast and spreads is provided, but the real highlight is the dessert made every night by the owner, Sheira.nnThe hostel has a lot of character, featuring beautiful murals, photos and letters from past guests. It feels very homely, especially in the lounge with the fireplace and comfy seats. There's even a guitar, piano, and CDs if you're musically inclined.nnDamian, the caretaker, is very friendly and helpful for weary travellers such as myself. The other guests were good craic, offering great recommendations for the South Island. Highly recommended.
