Great location for travellers as it’s right near port and buses, making it easy to travel to their next destination + has it’s own garage.nnThe rooms and overall facilities are amazing. In terms of practicality it has everything you need kitchen, showers, toilets, sheeted beds, etc and it’s also rlly homey!! It has such a nice underwater theme, which has a really interesting backstory to it 4 any1 interested, ask the owner :nnThe service provided from the owner + staff is amazing, they’re all really sweet and personable people and will give you plenty of insights into the local area and things to do.nnReally love this place, has such a great atmosphere, highly recommend to anyone travelling the south island :>
Very friendly staff and management. I love the Greek mythology theme at this hostel. It was one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in a long time. Conviently next to the ferry port as well. Free breakfast in the morning is a great way to start the day would stay here again if ever visiting Picton.
When I was unable to check into my planned hostel, I was able to get a bed here. The owner was very kind, and when my card didn't work I was able to sleep that night and get cash in the morning. It was very helpful when I was feeling so overwhelmed. The hostel has so much character and amazing murals everywhere, and the breakfast was great! You can also hang out in the common rooms for the ferry if it's coming later in the day.
I really liked staying here -- it felt like being at adult summer camp, or in the massive house of an odd/mystical Auntie. Damien at reception made me feel comfortable straight away with a tour.nnFor $24 it was a great stay. There are free lockers that come with keys in the sleeping room if you'd like to use them. Plenty of plugs for charging batteries. Extra pillows and blankets. The beds are quite short & thin, so if you're taller or heavier I would recommend upgrading to your own room or doing a princess & the pea situation with the mattresses?nThe living room has many books & boardgames, and a fireplace. Kitchen has many utensils. Hot showers that aren't timed and don't require extra coins... a luxury. Murals & oddities everywhere. There is also a downstairs area that I didn't get to explore. Everyone was friendly so I got to play boardgames with other travellers, and at 10pm all was quiet. Will stay here again next time i am in Picton!
I stayed 3 nights in this hotel and I must say it's one of the best I've ever stayed in! The atmosphere is friendly and unique. The owners are remarkably kind. I highly recommend this place.
