Story

Far from the adrenalin-seeking attractions Queenstown is so well known for, Appellation Wine Tour’s mission is to take people to the quieter parts of Central Otago, immerse them in another culture – the culture of wine, food and the beautiful open spaces that people so often miss on a short visit to Queenstown.

In 2010, Appellation won the Great Wine Capitals 2011 national Best of Wine Tourism award for Wine Tourism Services.

In 2011, Appellation followed this up by winning the Great Wine Capitals 2012 International Best of Wine Tourism award for Wine Tourism Services.

Appellation has currently received Trip Advisor's Certificate of Excellence 2016 and 2017, was the winner of the 2016 Luxury Travel Guide and has been awarded a Gold status under the Sustainable Tourism Business criteria led by Qualmark.

This was our second private tour taken with Appellation Wine Tours and again we enjoyed a spectacular day. Our guide, Martin was a wealth of knowledge providing interesting and historical facts and all with a great sense of humor. The conditions were challenging at times with the biggest snow falls in years yet we felt comfortable and confident in Martin's skills to ensure our safety. A truly magical day tasting spectacular wines, enjoying the amazing snow covered scenery and dining on delicious foods. I highly recommend this company to anyone wishing to enjoy the beast culinary delights of Central Otago.
An absolutely wonderful tour, Martin was a fantastic guide and every winery we visited had its own unique story and lovely wines. The small group sizes they offer on these tours make it fun and personal. The views were spectacular.

Great experience. Host Martin was friendly, accommodating and incredibly knowledgeable. Saw some great sights around central Otago and tasted some amazing wines. Good value for money.

Went on the Boutique tour as suggested by the staff after missing out on securing a spot for the Gourmet tour. So glad I went! Donna the tour guide was so friendly and knowledgeable. Out of the 4 wineries we went, my favourite was Misha's as we even get to meet the owner Misha herself! Great wine and great story behind the label.
One of the best wine and food tours I've been on. Martin our guide was knowledgeable and very informative about the wines in the area and also the history of the land. The wineries we visited we're amazing, I especially like Gibbston wine cave. The meal was incredible. And bonus was most places we visited posted back to Australia.
We did the classic wine tour, it was very good. Really enjoyed the entire afternoon. The three wineries we visited were all quite different and the driver/guide shared some really good history and information during the driving time. Well worth it.
