The owner refused us entry into the shop on the grounds that she felt we weren't going to buy anything, and informed us that we could "browse outside." Judging by the quality of the items on display outside, she may have been right about us not spending any money. The items on the inside may have been up to a better standard, however I guess I'll never know!
The owner would allow access to the shop only if you buy one of the items on display outside... To prove that we were as she said "genuinely interested" and not just browsing... Must have missed something because I didn't realise this store was like Rolex or Chanel with a security person checking access. My friends and me found it really shocking. Will spend our money somwhere else
Don’t bother visiting, it just ruins your day. Popped into the store today to have a casual browse and the owner was extremely rude to us. We felt so uncomfortable that we left immediately. Definitely ruined our experience at Akaroa.
The owner is one of the rudest women i’ve met. Was browsing outside and then walked up the steps so I could go inside, but the entrance was blocked by owner talking to customers. I patiently waited on the side, expecting her to move so I could go in, but she ignored me. I asked politely if I could go in, she looked at me and ignored me, like i was invisible. Then when I got in, she asked what i was looking for, i said nothing specifically, and then she said “don’t touch my things then, their far to expensive for customers like you to touch”. So I left instantly. I would say she ruined my morning, but I won’t let a low-life, pathetic, miserable women ruin anything for me. Id stay away if I were you!
The cutest little shop, has lots of gorgeous china and gifts, priced so there's a bargain for everyone. Open mostly weekends. A tiny shop with lots of precious things in it, owner is lovely and friendly, I can understand her anxiety over her beautiful things. I've been there when people have no respect and are rough picking up fragile things, letting children run around, touching items they don't intend to buy. Browsers should look with their eyes not their hands.
How do you stay in business!, they way you spoke to my daughter was disgusting. You were lucky I didn't tear a strip off of you in front of everyone, unlike yourself I have manners. Everyone in your shop left because your behaviour. I will make it my business to share my experience. The lovely shop owner across the road apologized on your behalf, she didn't even have to ask me who had upset us. Not impressed
Woman owner was very rude, confronting and belittling to my friend and harassed her multiple times while we were in there. Not sure how treating a customer like this would elicit a purchase. I put down what I wanted to buy and left and have discouraged my friends and family from visiting.
Owner was very rude and not friendly at all. We will never go back or recommend this place.
Delightful experience, such an approachable and kind owner, with a fantastic range of antiques. A true gem of Akaroa!
Such a welcoming friendly lady and very knowledgeable too. Will definitely be returning to this lovely store!
