In my opinion this is an appalling company. It sounded like a great company when we started. 6 months into our build, we realised we weren't going anywhere fast. Fast forward 2 years, and they aren't resolving issues and we haven't had any contact in months. In my opinion the company knows all the loop holes to get away with it too. 2.5 years later we are pursuing them through the courts. Its like every time they tried to fix something, they would break 2 other things. In the end I think they just gave up? Good luck if you build with them! Oh and their Facebook reviews are staged. They ban anyone that gives them a bad review and leave the good few up Oh and the 5 star review on here is their staff member LOL
We wanted to build with Amak after seeing their homes, and still think they build really nice homes. We built our first house with GJ Gardeners, Manawatu. They were a breeze to work with, everything was clearly spelled out, we had proposals outlining costs. Very different experience with Amak unfortunately. We became quite nervous as we asked about getting the house we were wanting to look at building sited onto plans in Aug '21 and were still getting excuses about the architect being busy in Dec. We had every intention of building with Amak, however the lack of a plan, and poor communication started to raise red flags. We didn't want to get into a situation where we had a build budget blow out because of communication issues and timeframes. Our build date was vague, nothing was actually formalised except for us signing a letter of engagement. We've paid a $1380 bill for site vists, calls to the architect nothing actually eventuated from this and 5x meetings at the office. The only reason I requested meetings was to try and push things along. I would be extremely hesitant to recommend Amak based off my experience. Unfortunate that it has come to this, but it is what it is. We're young, working professionals who really wanted to build a nice home with Amak. Feel pretty gutted today having not heard anything back from Amak since 27th Jan, but just receiving an invoice.
