We found Levain after hearing about its success at the New Zealand Pie Championships, and it was immediately clear why it earned those awards. We tried the bacon and egg pie, which was outstanding. The egg filling had that ideal middle ground—soft without being runny—while the bacon added rich flavor without any greasiness. There was even a surprise soft-boiled egg tucked inside, which made the whole pie feel even more satisfying.
So a friend of mine took me here because he raves about there pies.nnGreat fit out, everything well presented, loads of options sweet, fresh & pies.nnI grabbed my normal go to, steak and cheese. This pie did not disappoint. Tender steak and plenty of it. Gravy mix was just the right consistency and the cheese was really tasty. The pastry was so good, solid but soft. Can tell a good use of butter. This gets a solid 9/10 for me.nnAlso grabbed a Chilli and Prawn pie. The chilli hit was amazing, the white sauce mix was good and the prawns really gave it that solid feel. Pastry again was so good and it kept its shape.nnI will be back 100% but I suggest an early visit as this place was packing out and the line was long. Great sign of a popular bakery.

Our favorite here is the scallop pie! And also the seafood chowder pie is top notch here. Everything else I reckon has a country feel to it, as some pie lovers love a classic bakery taste. The pastries on the other hand is great. The service is good and fast for a busy bakery. Definitely a place to consider when close by or driving by.
Okay, I had to see what all the fuss was about as every time I drive past this place, it's packed with a queue spilling out to the footpath. I'm glad I pulled in during a quiet moment just before lunchtime. Got the Philly Cheese Steak pie mouth watering with a surprise slashing of bread 'n butter pickles & dollops of cream cheese with chunky flavourful beef strips & gravy, chicken avo roll for hubby, pie, sausage roll & Lamington for the kids! Ill definitely behaving a bite of that!nnBeautiful presentation, skilled baking, friendly staff & yummy food! We will definitely be back!
