Story

On the waters edge, East Fremantle, Western Australia, since September 2004.
Zephyr was the name of the first commercial ferry to ply the waters between Perth and Rottnest Island, it's also a word describing a light refreshing breeze. Reminiscent of the Broome approach to outdoor eateries, our cafe offers counter service with a smile and a diverse, family friendly food and beverage selection. We lean towards fresh seafood and interesting salads for lunch in the summer with more warming fare in the cooler winter months.
A walking path winds past the alfresco area towards Fremantle in one direction and Point Walter Reserve in the other
with its parade of passing boats drifting lazily by on the river.
Zephyr is bordered by ample parking on one side and a large playground and park on the other,
making it a safe favourite hangout for parents with young kids.
The cafe is open seven days a week for breakfast and lunch, as well as dinner Friday to Sunday, with snacks, coffees etc. available all day long.
Private Function bookings can be made in the evenings throughout the year, excluding public holidays.
The emphasis is on relaxed enjoyment of the beautiful surrounds with excellent food and coffee.
Much of the menu is available to take away for those who wish to camp under a shady tree and let the kids run free.

Going anywhere on a holiday period is a challenge, but you need to be prepared for it. If you're going to charge extra because it's a public holiday, at least make the service and food better. Waited ages to get our food, and I think I will just stop there. Views were nice, at least.
My wife and I have been coming here for years. Great cafe - friendly staff - stunning location, on the banks of the Swan River, next to a wonderful playground for the kids. Superb river views.
Fantastic location, on the Swan River in Fremantle, generous serves, items offered slightly different than the normal which is very refreshing. Staff friendly and service is great, fast and friendly. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheel chair access ramp.
Excellent breakfast. The pancakes were legendary and presented so beautifully. I got two breakfasts for myself smashed avo with a poached egg and pancakes and my gf loved her pancakes. Nice coffee too. Perfect location on the water opposite the Army Barracks.
In my opinion, this was the most underwhelming, disappointing, over-priced $15 breakfast I’ve had in.. as long as I can remember. All pre-cooked from what it looked and tasted like: a rasher of bacon, a poached egg that might as well have been hard-boiled, what seemed like a Costco-bulk sausage, a packaged? hash brown, a slice of toast = $15 No, this isn’t the kind of food or experience I enjoy.
This cafe is located at a geographical location that has a natural beach suitable for the kayakers to stop. It is also a stop for cyclists and pedestrians. There is a nice children playground at John Tonkin Reserve just next to this cafe. This is a very good cafe, well decorated, clean and beautiful. The coffee here has a medium body and a well-balanced taste. It was smooth, aromatic, not bitter and not acidic, I enjoyed the hot flat white here. I like the staff here especially their services. Nice location and friendly staff. We waited a long time for out lunch and the food was very average, on the cold side and the chips were a dark colour. The prices do not reflect the quality of food. Definitely won't be back and wouldn't recommend if you like good food. At least my nana enjoyed her fish cakes.
A lovely location on the river provide a a perfect backdrop for this little cafe. Coffee is good and there is a small range of snacks to help the coffee go down. A very relaxing atmosphere with very friendly staff.
It’s changed owners. We’ve been 3 times lately and it’s been progressively worse each time. Baked beans cold first time. Second time toast cold and scrambled eggs seemed to be fake reconstituted powdered egg. Last visit - scrambled eggs had cheese added to it not mentioned on the menu. So much cheese it was more cheese than egg. And it was solid like baked cheese cake. Tasted foul. I complained. They offered the money back -obviously not able to fix the chef, that can’t cook eggs. My son’s bacon was dry and well over cooked and his pot of tea had a ridiculous amount of leaves in it. You could have used it to re-coat some wooden decking. It’s sad the previous owners left because it used to be good food. We had no idea it had changed hands. Obviously all the kitchen staff were replaced too. It’s a real shame because it was a good spot on the river for canoeists and sailors. We’re not willing to give it another try.
Very disappointed group of nurses after celebration lunch there . The menu we looked at on line before going was an old one!! We were denied alcohol as the person with the license was not working the day we went!! The staff were lovely but run off their feet and very apologetic. One nurse didn't get her meal until more than half the table had finished. View is great. It was not easy getting a park and we only decided to stay as one nurse had recent surgery on her foot and her mobility was limited. Will not be back. We trusted your website information. Big mistake. Dietary restrictions not well catered for. Hence the need to check a correct menu before going.
