It’s a tough trail but rewarding. The first section requires a decent level of fitness with all the rock scrambling. There is also a really large rock face descent that is quite steep. Some section may require a bit of bottom traction! Make sure you take plenty of water! At the end of the trail you can either turn around and walk it back or take the settlers trail back to the car which a lot more easier.
The Yul-yan-man track has been classified as a grade 5 hike. This is most likely because of a part that requires scrambling over rocks. Before starting, we weren't sure how difficult this would be, but in the end we found it easy enough. The ascent is gradual and only along a few short stretches did we really need to use our hands to surmount some rocky areas. Without a doubt though, wear hiking shoes! There are some good views along the way, but always partially obscured by trees.nnOn the return leg we used the Soldier Settlers Trail and this is a simple and not particularly interesting walk. It may have been better just to have returned along the same Yul-yan-man track.
What a great trek. Enjoyed it so much I forgot to take photos .. diverse scenery and so much to look at.. more then I was expecting for the area
