The station is recently renovated. It’s clean and spacious. There are toilets available once you enter the ticketed section but gets very busy at times. The platforms could still be improved in terms of experience and ventilation.
Lovely modern and renovated station, especially the wooden escalators hanging from the roof. Numerous exits with connections to other public transport such as buses on Clarence and York Street and ferries at Barangaroo, not to mention the connection going over there.
2022: modern, new-ish renovated train station with clear signage. There are 4-5 unisex toilet inaide the transition space, before going out past ticket machine.
Arguably one of the best train stations in the city. It’s quite large and many different train lines pass through, but it’s not as confusing as Central. There have been many a time where I have relied on this train station to take me home on a late night. As stated, the renovations are quite beautiful and turn Wynyard into a bit of an adventure or maze with relatively good signage - you follow one of the futuristic tunnels and you pop out in the middle of who knows where; will it be the city? The other side of the city? Barangaroo? Nobody knows. The lights and colours blur with the hustle and bustle of traffic at 6pm. I didn’t get to find the more architecturally exciting parts of Wynyard station, but that’ll be for my next adventure there.
Wynard Station is a brilliant transport hub I often get off at. It's very simple in its layout and you have that top underground tunnel to get to Barangaroo. Love their work and great staff too!
Good transport hub but I wouldn’t recommend it to tourists. Crazy busy and packed, difficult navigation and nothing special in design. For these who interested in historical underground Sydney better go to St James or Museum stations. Nice recent addition is a tunnel to Darling Harbor / Barangooroo - a really convenient way to get to nice bars and restaurants
I've spent the past decade traveling through Wynyard station and personally witnessed the ongoing transformation of the station from a time capsule into a modern transport hub with lots of business opportunities to offer. Every now and then when I set foot in the station I can sense a live example of an ever evolving Sydney.
Well connected train station in the middle of Sydney close to many fabulous hotels. Wynyard links in with many of the major sydney rail lines, plus just outside is the bus station as well. Station is multi-leveled but there are normally people around to help.
Busy and complicated to get around if you are not familiar with the structure and set up of the station. Its best to ask the staff which are flat out anyway. Salman the Sydney Train employee was very helpful and helped me with where I wanted to go. I suggest ST put more staff on the ground to help passengers.
Use this for my daily commute. Love the modern exit to Barangaroo. Makes my commute much easier and pleasant. Also has Maccas where I stop to pick up breakfast if I’m running late, and a Coles where I stop by on the way home to grab essentials. The other exits aren’t as clean or pleasant but the Barangaroo exit is lovely and modern.
