Visited this supermarket with my wife on a Sunday arvo. The store was quite clean and had a modern layout, which made it easier to navigate. We found most of the items on our list, although a few things were missing from the international food aisle – bit disappointing, especially the lack of certain spices. Produce looked pretty fresh, and the deli section was fairly stocked. One of the staff members offered help when we looked a bit lost near the sauces, which was appreciated. Self-serve checkouts were mostly working, though one kept beeping and needed staff assistance. Didn’t bother us too much, but we saw someone else visibly annoyed. Parking was okay, though tight during peak time. Feels more like a local spot than a destination supermarket. Handy if you’re in the area but don’t expect anything special. We’d shop there again, but only if it’s convenient. Gets the job done.
Woolies Newstead is always well-organized, and the staff is super friendly and helpful. They offer a wide selection of fresh veggies, fruits, and meats, which are always top quality. It's a great place to shop for all your grocery needs.
I completed my usual grocery shop here again today. Unpacked some fresh salmon that was slimy! And the pork chops I bought were use by date of tomorrow! All bought at full price. The food safety awareness is poor at this store and I am concerning purchasing my meat elsewhere.nnSome feedback would be their stock rotation needs improvement in the meat department. Aside from today, Multiple other times I have come home from a grocery shop and noticed the expiry date of meat I have bought at full price has a expiry date of the next day. Meat with markdown labels on the shelf is marked down only marginally despite same day expiry date. Have to check the date overtly before even taking it off the shelf. Sometimes meat is on the verge of spoilage upon purchase. Other Woolworths stores I’ve been to have generously marked down fresh food items several days before the use by date. As someone who used to be employed by Woolworths, I’m pretty sure if a product expiry date is the same day, it shouldn’t be on the shelf…and you don’t want huge amounts of product in this situation. At the Newstead store I’ve seen rows and rows and meat packs such as chicken that have expired on the same day and all had to be reduced to clear but they only reduce by like 10% which is a wraught. So we just buy the packs that anrent out of date. Which makes the issue worse. Effective stock rotation would prevent this waste. Please ensure your staff are properly trained.
A good sized branch in Gasworks Plaza, Newstead. A fairly new store with a slightly different layout to most other Woolies. Has large dairy and freezer sections with a wide variety of products to choose from. Plenty of parking available underground. Overall I've only had good experiences from the friendly, helpful staff.
I leave nearby, and usually come here for my little shops.nEveryone here are so so lovely kind and patient.nToday Simone helped me with some roast beef slices and sopressa salami. And with her lovely smile and kindness made my day.nI was sad since this morning but her energy made my day.nI just want to thank to wolly team
