Went back here first time in a few years. It was a really dirty Woolworths - the floors had not been swept and piles of dirt were all around, including in the middle of the register section and main entrance, food from broken packets was just left all over the aisle floors and empty boxes absolutely everywhere with aisles blocked through haphazard shelf restocking. Not a pleasant shopping experience at all.
Woolies Newstead is always well-organized, and the staff is super friendly and helpful. They offer a wide selection of fresh veggies, fruits, and meats, which are always top quality. It's a great place to shop for all your grocery needs.
I was picking up an order from an online room and I was waiting a few minutes so I went into the store and saw someone standing at the computer and I asked if she could meet me at the collection area to help me pick up the order, I believe her name was Shelby, she sort of mumbled something but I got the idea that she heard me and understood it took her like 10 seconds before even looking at me though. So I went back out and waited for, I’m not kidding btw, literally 30mins, after which I saw her leisurely walking the aisles in store. Not only was she somewhat rude, but she completely ignored a customer I shop at Woolies and I represent the customer when picking up their order. It wasn’t until some other lady helped me that I was able to collect my order didn’t see her badge but she had tattoos. It seems like most of the time the staff are very friendly although the checkout staff would rather talk to their friends than work half the time and I understand some of my delivery peers can be quite the handful, but I was nothing but kind, even smiling, yet this Shelly person could barely even bother to make eye contact with me. I’ll can’t speak to that employees personal character, but I will deliberately avoid her if I see her in the collection room, as I’ve never seen her help a customer picking up orders, maybe she’s new but some serious etiquette needs to be taught. Thank you regardless and have a wonderful evening.
They do a great job considering the amount of people they service.nnUsually very clean.nSometimes has stocking issues again due to the high volume of consumers.nnThe upgrade of the self check out area really keeps the flow of everyone so wait times are never long.
Staff at the checkout are getting worse, particularly on weekends. I was shouted at today by a staff member with the name tag “Sophie” not sure if that is her real name regarding which counter was available.nnI understand the checkout area was busy, but there is no reason to shout at customers. This is not the kind of culture or customer service people expect in Australia. It is the first time I have experienced such rude and impolite behaviour here.nnMost of the other staff do a very good job, which makes it disappointing that the experience was spoiled by one person’s attitude. Quite a shame, really
