Large store with mostly everything you will want to shop for. It is missing a proper service deli, so no buying custom quantities of meats/cheeses/seafood.. but has everything else a large supermarket has. Surprisingly decent fresh sushi, and boxes of fried chicken.
The forth star is for the kind staff. What really sets this place back is the quality of the hot food. The chicken chips are really dry and the chickens need to be cooked longer. There are some items here that are overpriced. I live 5 mins away which is honestly the only reason I come here. The beggers outside get a bit annoying too, but I was homeless once myself so I can understand... just... holy f I gave you change yesterday just let me shop! Lol
No customer service. Empty shelves. Silly offers to help you earn points, including items that aren't available in the store, or the same things from one week to the next. Never a pleasant experience! I was amazed when an indigenous woman confronted me in store, asking me to buy Paddle Pops for her, shoving the packet at me - it was more than "asking". I'm on a Disability Support Pension. I'm not rolling in cash - I don't go in there to throw money away. Paddle Pops aren't something you need in a life/death scenario, so I had quite a bit of difficulty understanding what she felt gave her the right to approach me in this manner. I'm often short of money, but I don't beg. I don't appreciate being yelled at when leaving if I ignore those who feel fit to park themselves just outside Woolworths so they can beg customers for money, hurling abuse at those who are brave enough to pay no attention to them. I don't carry change around, but if I had any it certainly wouldn't be spare. I wish security would move such people on. I hear someone saying quite loudly "excuse me" to me, when it's one of the few people who regularly sit around there, so, yes, I do recognise them, and I'm sick of being asked the same questions repeatedly. Places do exist that give food to those who can't afford it! Begging is NOT necessary. Update October 2022: staff purchasing items for online shoppers need to watch where they're going! The store is NOT a playground! A member of staff performing this activity was "racing" down the isle behind a trolley, eyes only on her mobile. She nearly ran into me! This behaviour is bad enough on the street, people staring at their phones, expecting others to walk around them, although on the street there's more room to move! Such careless behaviour is INEXCUSABLE inside Woolworths. The customers' safety while shopping in Woolworths, is Woolworths' responsibility! Customers injured by careless members of Woolworths' staff are not responsible for their own injuries. The staff need clear guidelines for in-store etiquette!
Believe that their security have been informed to keep a watch on people of colour because of store thieving And this store and staff are so rude with customers I’ve witnessed a staff member yelling at a customer of colour that staff member of filipino descent Their security staff stand at the entrance to their store and directing customers as they enter It’s a disgrace and wouldn’t bother shopping there
Good contender for the worst supermarket in Australia. The closest one to home, but never ever been able to get everything on my shopping list - and this goes back to before the pandemic. Seemingly well staffed for a store this size, but most have been unhelpful - even aggressively rude. Last straw today was being told by the alleged store manager in a loud voice, 'I don't know, I don't understand!' when I asked about a pick up order.
Pretty standard Woolworths fare but sadly due to the surrounding population not the finest WW store - but reliable and open good hours.
A good local Supermarket for Redfern, in a central location opposite Redfern Park Grandstand, so also useful when games are being played there. :Alan Bond
Difficult to navigate, had to ask where things are, and there are always beggars outside. It's a smaller Woollies, so there is less variety. They have fixed it up since I first went there, but I still feel unsafe in the immediate area around it, so I prefer to do groceries at Green Square or Waterloo.
Instead of arranging a trolley, ask the customer to get a trolley! Nick bro, you don't own the Woolies!
under renovation at the moment but it's not noisy shelves are still stocked. everything a bit dusty tho..
